had a noisey box for awhile was told it was the throwout bearing.

Then it started to get worse with whining and screeching and what not.

So went to see me dad get him to have a listen, got in and started to take it for a drive he didnt even get to the end of the driveway before he said, that not good stop driving it gearbox is rooted.

He said that a bearing had gone and the gears were seperating and what not.

not good hey, i attached some pics of the damage. Wasnt as bad as we first thought as the gears are actually ok as are the synchros. there was some metal in the box but not all that much.

Hopefully should have it back on the road in a few weeks for about 300, then i can go get it tuned.

Just have to get a new mainshaft and take all the gears off and put them on the new shaft, and then new bearings and all should be good again.

yeah i went back and tried to edit the title and put gearbox in there but it didnt work lol.

I hope its comes good again too, as the box i am going for is a still a few months off yet and dont really want to by a stock 2nd/reco box and waste the money when it could go to the stronger box.

This is what its meant to look like.

Yeh, I could tell even without seeing that good condition pic above that there was some very bad 'chewing' and wear there.

you all have dirty dirty minds hehehe.

The shaft came in the mail today, now just have to wait for the bearings to get in and the synchro rings so it can get all put back together all recod and then back in my car.

it ddint really eat the bearing though more the shaft then the bearing the bearing had some scoring on it and some deflection marks on it though.

your box was hungry, you should feed it more often.
