136 kw & 400 Nm should make the new Mazda 6 diesel a fun drive...

Not so sure about that... almost 200kg heavier than an AH, which green boxed and simotaed has 145kW+... A fine car though, no question.

what about the outside though.....it looks very sleek

and at least the interior isnt as bland as a camry or a button fest like the accord

Also they should drop this motor in the mondeo.....only 103kw... cmon ford!

Is there a green box type tune for the Mazda TD's ???

That could make up the deficit in power/weight ratio...

New Mazda 6's as with previous model look sleek !

New Mazda 3 will be the go I think, similar look, smaller body size and weight.

another great post!

im sure that the interior quality of the Mazda 6 is on par with its competitors in its size and price range!

Did you expect a "Porsche" quality interior from a car worth $40k???

This is a bit of a red-herring ...

The standard Astra CDti = 11.3 kg/kW & 4.2 kg/Nm
Mazda 6 ~ 11.9 kg/kW & 3.8 kg/Nm

The extra torque should be easily noticeable. BTW where did you get your weight for the Mazda 6 diesel?

I'd have to agree, I've sat in and inspected the new Mazda 6 earlier this year at the Melb. International motor show (petrol variant) and absolutely loved it !!! no issues with regards to quality and kit !

I don't know how different or not the TD interior is, but if it's anything like the petrol variants, there should be no complaints...

If the car' been released there should be precise specifications on the web...

Agree with the interior kit on the 6, Ange. Luvurly car all round, the 6! Was a very nice package in the previous model, and Mazda have made huge improvements on this current version.

. . . . Now if they can do the same "improvements" to the next model 3 (due early next year I believe), it could be very tempting come time for the wife's next car upgrade!

Exact same boat for me my friend ;)

New Mazda 3 hatch or sedan is top of my list for next everyday ride, since my 'other new car purchase' will not be a practical vehicle.

Will even seriously consider a TD variant if they do a good enough job of it :)

I also like the new Civic sedans, very nice interior (for the price) especially the digital dash, lots of interior room, very reliable and very efficient engines, very reasonable purchase price - nice choice for a DD :)

Yeah, a 3 with that 2.2 TDi engine would be more like it! :)

Wow, I wish some people on this forum could stop assuming shit. Where did I mention quality, Mr Ohillbeasmartarse?

I said the interior was poor...the Design of it. Enough said. FFS

Oh yeah, this looks hideous  I spent a bit of time in one when I was buying my 3. Very tempted. This diesel sounds a cracker - not sure on the value in comparing it to an Astra though - different class of car.

Watch out Poita they might bite you for saying that.

I too agree, the previous 6s interior was much better

It wont sell in great numbers here as there is no AUTOMATIC version. :)

I m not biting anyone but I have no idea why you guys seem to think the interior of the new 6 is poor...it is much better than the camry or accord!!

That's fair enough and each to their own :)

I was also a big fan of both the previous Mazda 6 and 3 interiors (3 still being current) but after seeing the new 6 at the Melb. Int. motor show, IMHO it's a good follow up and improvement over the previous model, especially the dial cluster, the detail and light up colours are fantastic...nice steering wheel too :)

The cabin is noticeably larger/roomier than the previous model too, which dosn't mean anything to me (I hate the way car models keep getting bigger) but I'm sure this'll be of benefit and interest to alot of people who buy the car...
