180K kms and you have to ask? Run away is what I would suggest

i agree...any car thats done 180k is getting pretty tired, doesn't matter how well made it is. it might be $28k, but don't be surprised if you need to fork out an extra $5k for repairs within the year or two!

interesting, it looks like you have $28k to spend...have you considered getting him a second hand WRX? :p it still drives 4 wheels so he could still take it off road...sort of...until that huge bonnet scoop gets choked up with dust :p

wouldnt bother with the V6 petrol Touareg's - from what I've heard they are underpowered and slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

+ 180K is getting pretty high, even with country K's.

hehehehe - I love picking out all the leaves and moths and what not out of the intercooler fins when I wash it.

yeah see thats what im tryna tell him, the kms are too high. he's pretty set on getting himself a 4wd though. he recons he's been driving sedans for too long and would like something bigger. wrx would be sweet:D and a honda accord euro is an awsome car, but he wants it to be big, powerful and luxurious........

any suggestions?

i'm not too sure about a 180,000km VW..

they don't seem to have the best reputation for reliability, but at 180k, you're just asking for trouble, furthermore prices of VW parts are ridiculously high when things go wrong and for general maintenance.

i know i'll be looking at a Prado or similar, for the same price.

Big 4WD's in surburbia are the devil!!!!

Have you looked into the AWD Subaru Liberty's/Outback's?

Are does he actually want a too big for the road 4WD?

EDIT: But if he does want that I can't look further then a Land Rover...great for off road if he wants to take it out.
