Has anyone seen or have the Cam Belt tensioning tool used for the C20XE and most likely other twin cam opel engines.

It's like a odd shaped pair of pliers with a spring.

If someone has and doesn't use them I would buy them.

Hi ant0ny, where abouts are you located ??

I know what your talking about, but don't have one of those as part of my tool kit, I use my cos' mech. work shop garage (in Melb.) to do all that sort of work...

You could always just buy one or similar from any of the car speed shops.

Brisbane... yeah I'll have to ask at Repco maybe.. it's a tool I have never seen in anyone hands actually doing the job... but after stuffing about on the week end I can see it would be easier.

It's only a problem with the motor in... with the motor out on a stand you can get to it and use a 3/8 extension bar in a 3/8 wratchet as there is a 10mm square hole in the right spot.

maybe I might just make a tool like a Alen Key but out of 10mm square bar.

That's an idea and I was going to suggest that before, that you could improvise and use something else to tension the belt and then fasten the pulley.

I remember when I did my timing belt and pulleys on my V6 Cali, the job required about 8 or 9 specialised tools, but I only ended up using 3 or 4 even though I had access to all of them at my cousins workshop.

Good liuck with it all, I'm sure you'll do fine :)
