Opelaus.com - SPOTTED - Business Card Idea's

Attention all members of Opelaus.com

The previous opelaus.com SPOTTED business cards are soon to come back, but before this can happen, we need your help. Below is the current design for the card.

This card was designed last year by opelaus member 'insubordinate'.


For persons that are unware, the card was designed to promote the opelaus group to people you see out in the street's driving opelised vehicles whom are not members of opelaus. Its my understanding that in the past, this has worked well and many people have joined as a result of this.

There is currently a large amount of intrest in people wanting to obtain more cards. So lets make it happen.

Before we can do so, insubordinate is going to re-design the cards. This is your chance to give your idea's. What do you want to see, what should be changed?

Please post suggestions below to be considered. From there, admin of opelaus.com will approve the new design and it will be presented to all before ordering.

I've obtained some pretty good quotes to get the cards printed and I know that some people are after some large amounts, so once we get the design, I'll post up pricing for these cards.

Are we trying to get just new Opels along, or people who like Opels? Reason I ask is what are the 2 cars at the rear in the middle?

anyway... good idea of the mix, but personally I think an AH Astra SRi-T (ala Astra G Sri-T on the current cards) would do the deal.

I did the group one as a few people suggested using a group shot.
I'm not fussed, as long as the cards look good and can bring a few more member to OA.

good photo paul but the writing looks kinda crap and no need to hide the URL isn't that what we are promoting? But that photo looks good and i agree with others this is opel aus not astra aus... although some of us would like it to be :rolleyes:

That bar in the middle is something that would suit the rear of the card. How about taking that out and adding it to the back design....See what you can come up with then. Dont be scared to try a different picture on the back, the card will still cost the same.

Agree with Pauly, its just a tad to much. But good effort.

I think the efforts people are putting into this are totally grand :cool: something way above what I can do.

So, if I may.... an option to consider for the business cards....

My previous suggestion was the Astra AH Sri-T due to it's "hero car" status amongst Opels in Australia (well, in my opinion anyway).Or....

Why not someone who has the skill and the technology, photoshop each of the different types of Opels into one picture (I have no idea if this is even possible)... and have Pauly's Corsa C as the central car (like in his business card presentation).... giving credit where credit is due (his site etc). That way, anyone who get's carded, will see a similar car on the card that he/she drives. Type of a visual boost....?Or....

Use one of the Qld gathering piccies.... as from memory, there were a fairly diverse group of Opels.Anyway, good luck to the progression. I will certainly buy some more cards to continue spreading the good word :D

Not only that, it goes towards stats on the site. Check out your personal profile, there will be a box which shows you how many referrals you have against your name.

dunno if you are meaning to only include these in membership packages, but if you are willing to send me say 20, ill definately spread them around town on opels.

one other thing though guys, other than me and another bloke i "stalked", there are no other cars in my town badged as opels.
on the back of the card somewhere could we include mention that even though spotted persons car is badged as a holden and sold as a holden, it is a opel?
im only suggesting this because there would be alot of people out there that read the card and think this...
"opel astra? i dont have a opel astra, i have a holden astra"
and then just discard the card.

also barina owners may think they have been spotted by mistake and chuck the card, considering the barina/corsa name difference.

i could easily use 50 cards, ive often thought about printing up some sort of note to owners and directing them to the site. but i forget to do it once i get home and laziness takes over lol.
if i could have some to keep in the car itd be much easier.

I think it's a bit cluttered mate. Your first one actually looks better. You were on the right track with using the perspective of the building. Play around with moving the Opel logo so that it's not covering the main subject of the image.

With small graphic designs such as this, LESS is MORE. :) In no way having a go, constructive critisism. ;)

if you guys are worried about the opel logo watermark blocking good veiw of the cars, maybe place it further to the top right of the pic... then just put the car names wherever you can fit them, wherever the logo blocks the names.

i think the logo at the front is good, becuase it is just 'in your face' along with the models, having the cars in the background adds more to the effect

The previous cards were done in full colour so the cost cant be too bad :)

Tried that but it just looks too busy which is why i didnt do it originally :)

Make sure you have the text in vector format otherwise it will be slightly pixelated. So Illustrator for the text... save as a PDF.

if its done on PS just make sure the layers dont say T or text, should say object i think

if in ps, save the .psd
the press ctrl+shift+e to merge the layers, then save as
so u have a copy with seperate layers, then a copy with combined.

Yeah i know what vector images are, its all done as vectors and can be exported in whatever format the printing people want :) I just merged it as a .jpg to post on the site.

I thought glider was meaning turn the photo itself into a vector which didnt make sense lol.
