Using this VIN checker http://www.autobaza.pl/ab/en/web/productaa0100 that I got from a recent thread on here, I found that my Holden Astra Convertible was, in fact, "assembled" in the UK! Guess it makes sense as it is right hand drive . . . but interesting all the same. Guess that explains why the build quality of my wife's G 5 door (Antwerp, Belgium made and assembled) is of a far superior quality to my G convertible.
Not meaning to have a dig at the Poms, but let's face it, the UK auto industry doesn't have what one would call a good reputation for build quality.

I'll have to use that checker and see where mine's from - until now I thought all TS verts were assembled in Italy ??

well there you go. even though most of the parts are very similar its s a shame to see such build quality differences between teh plants.

I dont think Belgium is much better...going by my ex sri-t.
Uk manufactures Aston Martins, Jags, Rovers, LandRovers, Fords, Some Opels..etc.

Well I have a Corsa C a Vectra JR and I have just taken delivery of an 08 Astra CDTI man. The Astras build quality is excellent and it was interesting to find out doing the VIN check that assembly plant was Bochum Germany!
