My guess is understeer into a right hand corner into a guardrail or the like..

Probably a wet-ish mountain road or doing a Targa Tas impersonation....

Front is smashed (The front end is in the car), but not a head on, the side has hit something reasonably solid and flat that gave a little..Wasn't tree's, scrub or rocks etc as the panels aren't ripped and theres no "greenery" left on the car...

As they say on Best Motoring: "Oh, under under under!!!"

Your probably right and maybe that's what went down... :)

Maybe the types understeer is to blame then ???

blueraven
30th May 2008, 05:29 PM
about 1500km apparently (read it on another forum)...no idea what caused it tho.

as for understeer, depends what you have the diff set on ;) i can switch it mid corner and the thing literally dives for the inside of the corner..its actually a bit scary sometimes, it grips when you really, really dont think it will and can catch you out. tell you one thing, I am finding it VERY hard to find the cars limits on the road.

Glad to see i dont need to educate anyone here about white :D

I stumbled across a new STi on the Pickles site a few weeks ago, but looking at the pics, it had no damage whatsoever but was in the repairable write off section, not the reposession section i'd assume it would be in!!! Maybe the driveline was broken somewhere or something!!!

Knew a guy who did that with an '01 Impreza, RX car, WRX motor, gearbox etc, the amount of f***ing around they did with that car and the amount of trouble it gave was very not worth it!!! Not to mention that in the end it cost him the same for the conversion as it was if he bought a WRX in the first place!!! Was killed with resale too, got nothing for it!!!

He now has an '05 STi, done by the factory, no hassles!!!

Hmm true thought it would be a easy swap if u had the right tools ??

Haha yep we thought so too...........

Not so much the tools, more the case of much more different components from RX to WRX than the motor!!!

I don't think it can be done with the new Impreza as the STi runs a slightly different shell...

Previous generation Impreza's haven't been too hard to do it with. When Subaru left rallying in Australia a few years back, the 20 or so Subaru RS Rally Challenge cars were now stupidly uncompetitive in any class other than the challenge, so all but a couple are now converted STi's...
