Good old Snetterton, that used to be my local track before I upped and shifted over here, (Norwich boy).

Must admit though, never went there for a single car meet in all the time I lived there, was into 2-wheels back then!

Rounds 1 + 2 Snetterton News Bulletin

Wins for Seat and Vauxhall
The BARC Dunlop Sport Maxx Cup kicked off at Snetterton with its inaugural championship races following a successful series of trial races in 2007.
The new championship, for cars running to production specification and competing on the latest Dunlop Sport Maxx TT road tyre, boasted a colourful grid of hot-hatches and coupes representing SEAT, Vauxhall, BMW, Alfa Romeo, Renault, Ford, VW and MG.
The Championship runs in three classes, based on power to weight ratio.
Race 1
Pole Position in Class A went to 2005 Dunlop Race Academy winner Simon Shaw in the Thorney Motorsport Vauxhall Astra VXR, pipping Simon Gusterson’s Renaultsport Megane R26. In the race, Shaw resisted pressure from the fast-starting Shaun Hollamby (AmD Seat Leon Cupra). A spinning John Thorne (BMW M3) delayed Shaw, allowing Hollamby to snatch the lead. A collision at Russell Chicane between Gusterson and Shaw then demoted the Astra to 3rd and allowed Gusterson a clear run at the Seat. However, it was Hollamby, the former VW Cup Champion, who took an impressive debut victory for the Leon. In Class B, Quentin Laithwaite (Clio) took his first class win ahead of a great battle between Paul Taylor (Seat Leon FR) Leyton Clarke (Corsa Sri) and Adrian Miller (Clio) with 2nd place going to the former Saxmax junior champion Clarke. Paul Lund repeated his 2007 Class C form with a win in his Alfa 147 – but is expecting tougher competition later this year from a flurry of Fiat Puntos and Minis expected in this class.
Race 2
Simon Gusterson scooped Class A pole in race 2, but it was Shaw who stole the lead at the start. However, his joy lasted a few hundred metres when a turbo pipe came loose, dropping the Astra out of contention and ultimately into retirement. Shaun Hollamby then powered into the class lead, but the man on the move was 2007 winner Martin Wallbank (888 Astra VXR) who eased into the lead on lap 4 to win the class. A stirring battle for 2nd between Hollamby and Gusterson saw the Leon and Megane side by side for several laps at the chicane. Perhaps the most impressive performance of the day came from VXR Driver of the Year competition winner and racing debutant, John Allison, who comfortably kept pace with the lead battle in both races and looks set to be a year-long front runner. A flying start from Miller to take the Class B lead led to a fantastic scrap with fellow Clio pilot Laithwaite and Leyton Clarke. Laithwaite, a former Westfield winner squeezed past the former Fiat Champion Miller on lap 6 to win. Note: John Thorne (BMW M3) took overall victory in both races but was running in the invitation class due to a power to weight ratio discrepancy that made the car ineligible for Class A.
