havent really had a successful 1 yet, but here we go neway ;).
we will be heading down to the snow (perisher) in early september, most likely the week begining 2nd september.
we will be staying at lodge21 in the snow at smiggins holes, but all are welcome to stay where ever they want, i have just found lodge 21 to be a great place at an excelent rate. they charge this year $825 for the accom, lift pass, dinner n brecky deal.
then you need board or ski's, clothes if you dont have them, snow chains, nat park entry, money for lunch, and most important of all PUB MONEY :D.
we arrive on the sunday about lunch time, and depart on the following friday whenever we feel the need, normally an early morning board before we go, if we're not too sore ;).
we will be heading down thru sydney thru parramatta i think it is, or near atleast. then onto canberra, thru cooma which i think is where the people from south will meet our path.

any1 that is interested or keen to go, just post up here and let us know so we can get a list going, and if you just want to meet up with us on the way thru, i'll make a list for that here also.
thanks matt.

nah, start of sep is 1st week after peak season, there is about a $400 drop in price compared to the week before, n still plenty of snow.

I am in early stages of considering this. I have never seen the snow.

Once I start my new job I should have a clearer indication of whether I can attend. Sounds like a great deal.

again? it was shit last year...

auzvectra
29th May 2008, 11:06 AM
actually it was fine when we were there, and that was mid sept.
although there should be more snow this year.
actualy u think some slopes were closing on the last day we were there, but most were still open.

auzvectra
29th July 2008, 07:38 PM
ok finally got hold of them, they switched their old ph number to the fax machine :(.
just rang them, spoke to some1 else, not the owner. asked about the dates and prices on the site http://www.lodge21.com.au/package_rates.php they said they are correct as far as they know, will check in the morning as the owner is in sydney and ring me back.

but basically it's $825 by the looks of it, for the 5 night sunday to thursday. inc 3 course dina, cooked brekie, 5 1/2 day ski pass, they have tv/dvd facilities, fire place, unlimited hot choc (we emptied it 3 times last year :D) drying room ect...
then you need, transport to the snow, nat park entry pass, hire snow chains, ski clothes, board or ski's, money for lunch and plenty of drinks :D.
thats about all from memory.

we are still undecided to stay in sydney for the nite or drive strait thru, we have done it in 1 go all other years, but it seems to get harder n harder :(.
depends on every1's opinions i spose, we could leave earlier sat n mett up with some sydney folk on sat nite, or leave about 8-10 sat nite, n go strait thru.

vectraguy01
29th July 2008, 09:04 PM
U know im in, plus dont need chains with the AWD, so all good there. I dont mind either way if we stop in syd, if we do its just more cost, but then we could do a cruise through syd that nite.
Depends how many ppl are gunna come.

auzvectra
29th July 2008, 09:54 PM
i ment 4 others :p.
maybe a sydney west sider would put us up ;).
yeah any cost ontop of $1200-1400 is a lot, thats true.

glider
30th July 2008, 06:54 AM

(Updated 05:52am 30/07/08)
Another cold front will arrive in the mountains on Friday the 1st that should see some moderate snowfalls across the 1st-5th. We could possibly see another 40cm+ during this time.

More snowfalls are likely from around the 10th/11th as another snow bearing system arrives. Currently the charts are inconsistent with this one so a snowfall amount is hard to see at the moment, will know more in the next few days. Some fine weather following this before another strong system arrives around the 20th/21st that could bring more moderate snowfalls.

vectraguy01
30th July 2008, 03:25 PM
They have already had over 2meters of snow this season. So should be good for more!

glider
30th July 2008, 03:28 PM

vectraguy01
30th July 2008, 05:23 PM
I hadn't snowboarded for over 6yrs before last yr, n yer the sunday half day that we had i remembered doesnt take much, Matt n myself were still learning and having fun falling arse over tit!

auzvectra
30th July 2008, 07:05 PM
well dont know bout arse ova tit, i went head under arse in the powed, near broke my neck, but i did make a nice long groove in the snow from my head as i flipped ova "backwards" in slow mo for bout 3-5 metres ;).
safe to say that was then end of that day, and time for some codine :D.
did find out, rang him too early he wasnt in the office n forgot to ring before end of office hrs :(. might try a bit lata, he may answer.
but by the looks of it the shift in season is the 15th sep, so i'd say it would be as chris said and be sunday the 14th of september.

so if thats the case, it would be leave sat 13th september, early or late depending on if we stop in sydney or not.
arrive in jindie late morning on sunday.
head upto smiggins holes, for pass n ski gear, unpack luggage, go have fun for a couple of hrs. head back 4 dina showers ect...
ski from monday till fri lunchish and head back home on friday arvo/nite/ or even morning.
it may be worth an extra nite acom and leave early sat to come back, refreshed so the drive isnt so hard.
from the gold coast it's about a 14-16hr drive, but last time i think it took about 14 1/2hrs with roadworks slowing us down.
so if we left down there at say 8 am, we would get back intime to head to the clubs :D

vectraguy01
30th July 2008, 07:46 PM
I like your thinking there dude! :p Yer it was just over 15hrs back to my place so yer all good there. Trip is pretty good these days compared to a few years ago, plus with all the bypasses they have now makes it quicker!

auzvectra
30th July 2008, 08:23 PM

seems ur alittle stuck there! lol

Yeah took us about 30mins to dig it out by hand. (Tip: always pack a shovel when going to the snow)

is that lowered n rims wit chains on???

Yep, made getting the chains on and off pretty interesting and the chains scrapped a bit on the inner guard but nothing to bad.

Had a great time up there and can't wait to get back.
Hope you guys get some numbers as its always good fun in a big group.
