Hi there!
I am communicating with Opel drivers from all over the world and the opelaus.com-board was linked in the german astra4ever.de-board so I decided to join it. Great board, great cars - I never thought that Opel is so famous in Australia!

Some words about me: My name is Daniel, but everyone calls me "Siggi". I am 21 years old and work as a Computer Systems Engeneer.
I am driving an Opel Astra Coupe 2.2i 16V. I've seen that the Coupe is not available in Australia, but you might know the car from Opel drivers in Europe or South Africa.

Some pics are attached.

If you have questions or searching parts from Opel/Germany, let me know.

Thank you very much for your replys and for your welcome greetings!

@NUTTR: Germany is a nice country, but Australia is GREAT! I hope that I can spend my holidays down there one day.
My car is lowered 55 milimeters at the front and 35 milimeters at the rear. I'm using an "H&R" suspension kit.

@opel_calibra: Hi there! Was the calibra available in Australia or did you import it from Europe?

@SydneySRi: silver-colored cars are sold very often in Germany. I don't know why! I bought my car used. If I would have the choice, I would choose another color - perhaps black or blue.
Btw: Even the german police is driving silver-colored cars because they can sell them later for a better price.

@EuroRacer: Hallo und vielen Dank für deine Willkommensgrüße!
I know Unna! My home town is about 80km west from Dortmund - close to the dutch border.

@Gummi: Sachen gibt's... lass dich doch mal wieder im AGM-Forum blicken (www.astra-g-mg.de)!
translation: S h i t happens... what about joining the AGM-Board again? (www.astra-g-mg.de)

Love ya Coupe, Go the Silver Rockets :) .
Too bad we never got them here

Was the Shak Fin hard to install?
Are the rims Standard or they off a Vectra?
Keep up the nice work:)

Was the Shak Fin hard to install?
Hi Glenn!
No, not really. But you have to change the position where the cable goes out at the shark fin. You must open the shark fin (7 or 8 screws), bore a hole at the bottom of it and solder the cable from the back to the middle of the antenna that it fits with the hole for the antenna at the top of the Astra.
(I hope, the words are correct  )

Are the rims Standard or they off a Vectra?
These are the standard rims for the 2.2 Coupe. They are also sold with some Vectras and Zafiras in Germany.

Keep up the nice work:)
I will do! Several things are in progress, but I don't want to change everything because I don't think that the Coupe needs to be styled up extremely. I will spend my money for new rims (OZ Hydra 8x17" if somebody knows them), a new front (Opel Astra OPC2 like it's shown on the opelaus.com-frontpage), a new shark fin (better look), red break saddles (?) and blue lights inside the car. That's it :)

It was really nice! About 40 Opels were there, most of them were Astra F and G, some Corsa, Vectra and Calibra joined, too. At the end, two Speedsters and one Corvette visited us but no one took pictures from that :(

Hi and welcome Siggi.

Nice pix of the Holden Astra Coupe! Maybe we should forward these to the Holden design and marketing departments to show them what the Holden Astra Coupe WOULD have looked like. Big mistake not bringing it to Oz!

Enjoy your stay and keep those pix coming. I drop in on astra4ever on a regular basis and am impressed by the cars in your gallery. However my German isn't up to the level of your English, so my participation in the forum is kept to a minimum.
My translation is improving all the time, though!

That's really funny ;-) But they are quite expensive... V-IE999 costs 695 AUD! I only need it for fun, not to drive around in Victoria ;-)

the BMW style aerial looks awesome! where did you get that from?
It's original from a BMW E60 and costs 20 Euro at the BMW dealer. Some small modifications are necessary, but the style is perfect with this aerial!

just a thought....we should just swap parts....exchange service...changeover grilles, steeringwheels etc....lol
I already exchanged parts with opelaus users. It's hard to do and the prices of delivering are quite expensive. But it's really fun! Holden parts are very rare here!

I dont get it, germans want holdens, aussies want opels
Everyone who does this, wants to have an exclusive car which nobody else has. No one drives Opel in Australia and no one drives Holden in Germany. So both things are very exclusive and look very stylish because no one has them :-)

Fantastic car.
Holden are stupid for not bringing the Coupe to Australia...
I've heard that opinion several times. The Coupe is a fantastic car which has been built about 100000 times only. It's running in Europe (mainly Germany, Italy, England and Belgium) and 300 of them have been exported to South Africa. But Australia did only have the Convertible :-(
