So many things i would like to do, $$ permitting. In no particular order:

Front grill (so i dont have Holden on the front and the Opel badge on the rear anymore)
A couple exterior badges
L.E.D. dash conversion
Doing something with the driving light surrounds on the front bumper.
Pod filter vs. C.A.I vs. Baileys BOV (yes yes, i know, there has been lots of discussion over BOV's. But i want to find out the best solution out of the 3)
Full exhaust system, which will include a tune at the same time. (already priced it up. And its gonna cost me, so it will more then likely be further down the list of things to do)
A few more things to improve handeling.
Upgrading the bulbs in the headlights.
Look into a front mount intercooler. There may be others. But thats all i can think of at the moment.

+1 :)

Although it may be more like '09 or '10 before I get my hands on what I really want....

Until then there are a multitude of little bits n pieces I still need/want to cover on my turbo vert, can't comment on the budget, it always varies, but will definitely be putting an end to it this year and start enjoying driving it around more :)

2nd January 2008, 02:31 PM
yeah i think maybe 2010-2012 for me as the wife wants a baby soon grr what have i got myself into hehehehe.

I would like a new gearbox with LSD as i can see my current one not lasting long with the new engine and my heavy foot hehehe(done almost 270000k on it hehe).

Then maybe some suspension upgrades for it, then if all that is done i most likly wont want to sell it anyway.

as for cost well box n LSD is around 6k and suspension/handling mods say 4-5k mmmmm i think not.

oh yeah maybe a Cold Air Intake setup for it, or at least block off the hot engine bay air from getting into the intake and raising the damm intake temps on me no pinging yet though so that a good sign.

This year i hope to do alot of things, unfortunately if i do one thing, it means i can't do the other...

Scenario 1.
Modify my current car
-engine work
-brakes
-stereo
-wheels (maybe)

Scenario 2.
Keep the car as is and buy a motorbike

Scenario 3.
Sell the car and buy an Astra Turbo or another performance vehicle (with a manual)

Scenario 4.
Sell my current car, buy a cheap car and put a deposit on a house

Youll want lower profile tyres if your going to lower it (By what i see in the sig)

What profile are they?

CNBLU
2nd January 2008, 08:32 PM
im nearly half way there with my pride and joy. 2007 has a been a learning curve for myself with the astra and getting to understand how to get the maximum out of her. So for 2008 let the good times roll on....

1. Fit Eboost2 Boost controller (next week)
2. Fit uprated clutch
3. Fit Phantom Grip LSD
4. Fit APR rods and bolts (maybe forged pistons aswell)
5. Fit 80mm VXR air flow meter
6. Fit Bilet lightened flywheel
7. try to get around 200kw atw

IMHO having been there done that, I'd seriously consider/take on option 4 :)

Your still young Steve with plenty of years ahead of you to enjoy your car interests, considering cars just keep getting better, get some serious equity behind you first and then go for it in the future :)

good advice... and exactly what I have planned for, maybe not 08 but definitely 09 - but the car will stay! Honestly though, my NY resolution is "STOP SPENDING ON THE ASTRA" its bloody addictive --- i need professional help :D.

Well having only bought my car about 4-5 months ago I have plenty of mods planned for this year.

1. Eibach springs and Whiteline swaybar (have both need fitting)
2. New wheels and tyres (this week)
3. Smooth car of badges and wing
4. CAI and FMIC
5. Exhaust
6. Re-map

Then depending on how impressed I am by the Astra I will decide on whether I want to or need to go any further.

Although I would really like a LSD because on the tighter roads where I live even with the standard power it could do with one.

Just completed my first mods for 2008 today:
Vectra C intake and pre-cat removal.
Next on the cards is;
Paint door strips, skirts and eyelids
intake manifold
cat-back exhaust
In that order. Budget is fairly limited though, as this is supose to be the cheap reliable daily driver.

Courtenays in the uk have an astra with 296hp (flywheel, 240hp atw) running the stock exhaust but with the precat removed and replaced with one of their dump pipes.

yeah i'll be able to drive it, i've been invited to a track day end of jan, with a bit of high end competition, but i dont think i'll make it, then engine bay is dead bare at the moment, got the manifolds 1/2 done, still waiting for the radiator and lsd, and the gbox shop wont even look at the box till tomorrow to see whats wrong with 3rd.
when i go back to work i'll have little time to work on it again :(.
would be nice but, evo 9's n sti's ect...

SSS_Hoon

I dont agree with getting a house first i say get your car first then get a house, otherwise when u get a house you wont be able to afford the car let alone to mod it it the way you want, trust me i know the last 6 months we have bought a house and got married.

Had to get my engine rebuilt and that was only as my dad said he would do it as a xmas pressie for me otherwise i woud have no car....

Unless you already have a car that you want to keep for say 5-10years then by all means go and get a house its great having your own place.

My SRi is where I wanted it when I brought it, I won’t be spending any more as there simply is no point! Will keep it until the end of next year I think.

My company wagon will be receiving some attention though, the Coil-over’s should be here late January then its onto a new engine, haven’t quite decided what’s best yet.

They are pretty rear, BMW NZ brought in only a hand full on special order, most of which were used by dealers and call out service vehicles. Most of the ones I have seen (ten or so) have been privately imported buy immigrants from Europe.

It’s a 320i 5-Speed with a full service history and features a M-TEC II kit and 15” basketweaves with are quite rare in themselves.
I am researching the best engine upgrades at the moment, I would ideally like to throw a 24v VANOS equipped later model 2.5 in it as it would bolt straight up to the gear box!

just got a new 02 sensor after being told which one to get and guess what it wont fit dammit.

Also waiting for my new ADJ FPR to come in so i can replace my current one as its shat itself and not holding pressure dammit, and now i ping all the damm time grrrrr.

After that i will be looking at tuning my damm thing the cams timing is shocking way too much over lap on the 272 cams i got in there, so its time to take the cover off and start adjusting the ADJ cam gears to see if we cannot close the gap up and bring on some more power.

After that prolly a realtime tuning daughterboard for the fine tuning for even more power and hopefully better fuel econ also.

I might actually have to get yet another head as i think CR is too high with the current setup, im hoping the FPR and 02 sensor will fix that up though.

Aw shit, ease up soldier hahha. Im determined to pay it off before I start on the mods, just doing the cheap ones at the moment and then going nuts in the second half of this year.

I totally changed mod priorities. Not interested one bit in looks mods anymore, I'd rather spend the hard earned cash on getting more power to those front wheels :)

For 2009:
* Exhaust upgrades: full bore dump pipe and de-cat

Possibly late in the year or early 2010, when car out of wty: progressive controlled NOS.

Started on the RX3 Pursuit, But finding a Genuine RX3 these days is a nightmare.
Then I changed jobs & Ended up going halves in a 1978 Porsche 930 Turbo, We got sick of the power and ended doing a full Engine rebuild to 917 Le Mans Spec with a KKK K-27 Quick Spool Turbo running a 50mm External wastegate. Stock(When got it) it was 280hp @ the wheels, after the rebuild it was 570hp @ 18psi. It would take over 30psi comfortably.
I sold my half out & banked the Money.
