Hey Guys,

Can someone explain to me the difference between holden, opel and vauxhall? I am gathering holden is a rebadged opel or vauxhall but are they all the same in the end? Sorry bout the dumb ass question!

Quick answer...Part of the GM family (General Motors)

Chevrolet / Buick / Pontiac / GMC / Saturn / Hummer /SAAB / Cadillac / Vauxhall / Opel / Holden... even Daewoo!

hey barra from my limited knowledge they were all originally sperate brands holden being AUS vauxhall being UK and opel Germany and then got taken over by GM so that today u get rebadged GM cars as wither holden opel or vauxhall

3 Different companies. Opel used to make bicycles and sawing machines back before WW1(if I remember correctly) and then started making cars. Vauxhall was set up around the same time as Opel and made pumps(pretty good ones, grandfather still has a vauxhall pump, not working though atm). They were bought by GM early in the 20th century.

Holden used to make saddles and is older than both Opel and Vauxhall, though Opel was the first to start making cars. Holden was also acquired by GM.

That's as much as I know off the top of my head because I researched it ages ago.

didnt opel make the transport vehicles for ww1 and 2?

A bit off topic, but it is interesting that alot of modern day car manufacturers, started out making things other than cars - most were involved with making push bikes or mechanical componentry or just engines ;)

i think pretty much all modern day car manufacturers started out with something else

Except Mercedes. BMW also made engines all along(plane engines). :)
