Hello opelaus members.

I have always had a certain passion for 60's cars, and have been trying to find the make and model i like most. It was the latest Top Gear episode in Africa that has me posting here.

It featured an Opel Kadett A
http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee289/yogi183/opelakadett5rf.jpg

I realise this is rather old, and not quite in the scope of this forum, but I am obsessed with this car now, and would greatly appreciate it if anyone could help me out, and give me and idea of where and how to source one. If you have any information please do let me know.

good luck finding one of those here in Aus.
may be one or two here, but i doubt the owners would part with them!
ony chance would be to import one from South Africa or UK.

ps. that was a great top gear episode, loved the drainage holes!

They are bloody rare in SA aswell. i think ive only ever seen maybe 4.
there was a blue one stored at my old college, fully restored to original condition. and was under no circumstances for sale...

You could drop an email to topgear themselves and ask them to sell it to you :).

Otherwise, Good Luck. Very very rare car.

That is a very nice classic :)

Is that a dent just behind the front left headlight ?? or is that red duco so shiny it's reflecting something else ??

Saw that, great episode...at the start I suspected the Kadette would come in with few or no problems.

Again it shows you how light and fuel efficient cars used to be.

Thanks for the replies.

As for contacting Top Gear, i don't think hamster would part with his dear old 'oliver'.

I'll continue my search, if i ever do come across one i'll let you know.

there is a manual on ebay ---> http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/INTEREUROPE-OPEL-KADETT-GT-1900-MANUAL-TYPE-A-B-RALLY_W0QQitemZ170165510310QQihZ007QQcategoryZ1842 4QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

maybe email the guy and ask him where he got it from and if he knows where to get the car from... long shot, i know :)

Haha, i did consider doing that, and now you have mentioned it i will.

If i do fail however, i think i'll be looking at getting a Vauxhall Viva circa 69.

Does anyone have any opinion on them?
