I bet holden are crapping their pants at the mistake they make for their brand.. None of the new korean cars are selling that well and i can see the new Corsa D selling like hotcakes here, and with the range of cars Opel deliver Holden could have really contended against ford and toyota! Not everyone wants a Cheap small car! Look at all the 1.5L Yaris' there are on the road! Few years ago people wanted the cheapest most reliable car (Echo) now they can have that again (1.3L Yaris) but i don't see many i see alot of the higher spec cars which cost around $4-5K more! people have so much disposable cash they want something a bit nicer/better..

Holden are losing alot of respect in the car manufacturing busness!

thats why they are advertising the astra like crazy....

I agree korean cars are cheap & may be reliable but seriously, they should leave them as daewoo`s. why rebadge them as holdens??

I totally agree with you mate... but what did they do for the past however many years? Sell the Opel products. As a business decision they found it more viable to go with a cheaper product. This has been discussed a few too many times now. There just weren't enough people like us to sustain them being imported. We've got to remember that Holden is not seen as a premium brand. This means they cannot reflect a premium price as such. As an example (and I know this is off topic)... a brand new 2007 Astra SRi Turbo should be $34,990 PLUS on roads, or whatever deal you can obtain. Yet on the internet, right now in Victoria you can purchase a brand new one with only 180kms on it for $32,950 DRIVE AWAY!! That's before you even walk in the door!!

I guess we should make the most of what we've got... or look elsewhere. Because at least in the short term, we won't be getting this car. Now back on topic lol...

I guess in the short term it increased sales,

as well as they got rid of the dawoo brand in the Uk.

the brand over here was failing thou and it kept Gm's market share by killing the brand befor it died

...they should have put the 1.9 diesel in it...you could then throw in a 4 speed with really tall gears :)
