IF holden won't import the corsa, I think this is a viable alternative :)

I don't think you know what you're talking about guys... The car is the bomb, will chew into Mini's market like there's no tomorrow. It also drives well and the interior is simply delicious. Check out recent Fifth Gear test drive to see why is going to be such a success.

USC, you say it's ugly because it's got fat ass and little round eyes? You mean, just like the Beetle, the Porsches, or the Mini?

I have to agree, I think it's a fantastic little car and I've been thinking of pre-ordering ever since I 1st saw it on pics. :)

i'd have to agree, it might be short and round and fat but i think it looks quite nice.. and if it drives well, even better :)

Wraith

I too agree, ie: I love it :)

When it comes to these sort of cars, you either like em or don't !

If you've ever driven the originals. as I have when I was in Italy, you'd love them too ;)

Wraith
15th October 2007, 08:50 PM
Once again agree, would never sell my Astra, but one of those new 500's would make a neat 2nd car or everyday ride and yes the turbo of course :)

reedaaron
15th October 2007, 09:16 PM
i've only got a corsa to start with, couldn't be too much smaller than that :p at least not as much of a downsize from an astra to one of these...

The 500 is rather quirki I like the look of it

have you not seen a GTI ?

dieselhead
15th October 2007, 10:35 PM
who wants to bet the 500 will undercut the Mini by about $10,000? the base model should start at $20k-ish. how much is the cheapest Mini? about $30k is it? they are bloody expensive for what they are.
sure, the 500 is not as focused and the Mini, which is a better driver's car, no question. on the other hand, the 500 drives really well and has more space for the passengers at the back. everything else is a matter of taste i guess.

I like it... and loved the originals as well..... gotta love the Bambino :)

Its a great car, definitely, and the fact that FIAT can't meet demand in Europe, even after upping production says something. By the time the Abarth comes out, my Astra will be ready for a trade in :).

Wraith

Can't wait to see ALOT of these 'bambinos' on the road......they'll make for a taste of Italy around the place :)

Well, well, for all of us who 'DO' love this new little babe, it's been voted European car of the year 2007 ! :)

So there you have it - nothing wrong with our taste buds :D

"Chosen by 58 judges the revised 60's style Fiat 500 is the 2007 European car of the year"

In todays (23-11-07) Herald Sun Cars Guide :)

Hell yes, truly is a great car, very worthy of the award. Can't wait till they start arriving here, definitely gonna go check it out. FIAT is finally starting to get back to a decent car company.

Fully expected from my perspective :) No other car can match it's practicality, style, flair and (believe it or not) quality of production for that kind of money. :) Well done Fiat, can't wait to check it out!

Past winners of european car of the year

Peugeot 307, Alfa 147, Alfa 156, Fiat Bravo, Nissan Micra, Ford Scorpio.
Lots of mediocre...results by committee results.

BMW has never won it, Merc only once.

I think that would have much to do with the pricing of these....

Remember its Europe. Price differentials aren't as large as here.

It's about car of the year. Not boring average family car of the year (307 COTY material? pleeeeasssse There has always been controversy about eCOTY. Much like how the United Nations works (or doesn't) ;)

So Fiat must of paid off those 58 judges..... LOL :D

Either way IMO that little new 500 is a jem and it gets my vote too for whatever it's worth :) the unknown 59th judge :D
