Sorry to the Aussies...coz you didnt get this...:(
This car, and the SuperBoss are two of SA's most prominant "boy racer" or Serious Drag cars.

Here's an Article from "Car Magazine" in '94 and '95.

That is awesome. I so miss the kadett name and models. Especially the early ones, known here as the gemini. Or the late 80s early 90s GSi models. They were awesome.

Yeh, they were equipped with the same engine (C20LET) as the Cali T.

Looks alot like the Astra we got here in the same years, but no turbo variant - pity.....

what was it called in Sth Afrika, Astra or Kadett?

we got the the astra f - highest spec we got tho was the gsi 2ltr

and yep, had the same engine as the calibra..

i guess holden only had room for one turbo car in it's lineup at the time.. if there was a turbo astra, then the sales for calibra's probably would have been worse..

astra/kadett would have come in cheaper than the calibra.
and two different types of cars anyway.

when you're talking about small scale sales compared to anywhere else in the world, if there was a cheaper turbo car, with the same engine, same power, it would have taken sales..

Cali sales werent that great anyway :( i dont think it would have made THAT much difference.

they run mid 14's stock, with a little bit of work, and improved traction, low 13's high 12's are easy to get.

we have a few running high 9's and low 10's.

not bad for a FWD. give the skyline tossers a puzzled look on their faces..haha..

true, and thats a dam shame.. such a good looking car, ruined by poor marketing, and in turn, poor knowledge on maintenance from holden service department..

would have been tops to have got it here tho..

i read somewhere it came down to how many could be shipped out of europe to aus and south africa.. something along the lines of, we got more convertibles, they got the all the coupes..

could be wrong..
