This arvo on the Monash freeway in Vic, i spotted a whole group of 10 or so Audi's, they were 2 door coupe's with LED front and rear lights, looked nuts!!:)

Is this a new model or did i spot some pre release testing?? Audi fans might be able to answer this!!

On another note, i had a quick look at the new M3, fark me it sounds wicked!!! :D

Yeah front looked very similar, didn't have the monster vents or big front grille, but yeah most likely that!! Saw them at dawn and those LED lights looked fantastic!!

god the R8 is a work of art, loved that ever since the pics came out, never seen one in the flesh. However i think i'd love an Audi RS4 for speed and practicality!

yeh..could be the new TT or R8. I doubt it was the R8 as they do have all the big vents. I went in both the R8 and the TT at the melbourne car show....

The R8 is one of the most amazing cars I ve ever seen/been in (both interior and exterior look spectacular!!)

Just searched Google for the pics of the new TT, definetely wasn't those, cos these Audi's i saw had LED tailights, possibly this R8 you speak of!! May have had vents, maybe blended in with the car colours (a mix of red and black ones)

Could be that you have seen the new S5 coupe, it has those LEDs, just like R8 :)
About R8: have you seen what Mark Webber said about it in an interview? He said that's the best car he's ever seen or driven, something like that! Wicked beast that one, it seems that's one supercar you can live every day and take it to the track on the weekend.

^^^ That is the Audi I saw, dieselhead i believe you're correct, the S5, there was about 10 of them on the freeway, and they looked great, and can't get over those LED's!!!!

I wonder how Renault feels about his comments (considering they are the biggest sponsor after Red Bull for Webber's Team) ...? :p

meh, you know Mark, he speaks his mind alright, no problems there :)
but then Renault doesn't even dream to have a competitor for the R8...

Looks like you spotted the new Audi 4 and 5 series cars Steve, they will have that 'fancy' line of LED's in the main headlight clusters, good to hear it looks ok in real life as in pics, it looks very tacky and like a gimmic.......

Audi R10 will be the one to have, same looks as R8 but with the Gallardo's V10 engine.....

As with all Audis, bloody nice and very desirable cars, but the price tags on em here in Oz are a serious wank/rip !

They are actually daytime running lights (DRL). Quite effective at reducing accidents actually.

Yes, that does seem to be a new trend, it's not just motorbikes these days but alot of cars run around during the day with headlights on.....

It's a good way to make use of your foggies too :)

The Audi R8 was on display earlier this year at the Melb. International Motor Show, looked very nice in the flesh, wouldn't surprise me if some have already been sold and doing the rounds on our roads....

Ultimate example however will be the R10 ! ;)

btm
16th October 2007, 01:15 PM
The Audi R8 is built at a rate of around 20 units per day. In Australia, the company expects to sell around 100 units per annum, with 25 to be delivered to customers in 2007 (October to December).

may have been on its way to its new home... lucky ****er who ever it is

it is one awesome looking car!

I didn't realise the R8 was released in AUS....:D

You guys realise the R10 is a LeMans car? I know you're just referring to the R8 with the V10 engine but still:p:p

Let me know when the R8 is released with the 5.0l V10 TDi from the Touareg R50 :D:D:D:D:D:D

So many Rs :D

Nah, I'm saving for the R8 with the W12 6.0 twin turbo Diesel version. 330 kW and 1,000 Nm should move the beast quite nicely :)
Jeremy Clarkson found the R8 faultless, the perfect everyday super car. I so want one damn it...

I went past the new Audi Showroom in Burwood on the weekend. Inside was the new R8 and S5

I just finished watching it....I'm not sure about it to be honest. It's slower than a Carrera in a straight line despite 50-odd kW more power. And the front end just looks out of proportion to the rest of the car.

I'd love to have one, nevertheless.:D

Audi R8 will be for sale everywhere for those who can afford it !!! It wasn't displayed at the Aust. International Motor show circut just for good looks ;)

R10 is comming in the near future, will also eventually go into production and hit showrooms World wide :)

Wouldn't mind one myself :D

So, you are comparing the driving abilities of Richard Hammond with Jeremy Clarkson? See the flaw in the argument?? :)

Fifth gear has a similar comparison... the R8 was all over the Carrera on the track.

I did say in a straight line :p

Even in Fifth Gear, the Carrera beat it if I remember correctly :D

That's right, the Stelvio Pass is a road in Italy. Like may other things in Europe, it didn't have to make sense financially, just had to be breathtaking. According to the Top Gear chaps, that's the best driver's road in the world. Pretty hard to disagree, don't you think? :)

that would be pretty hard to do bornwild. you could instead use my green box on a hired CDTi over there :)
Since that road is already closed until May, I'm going for a drive on the Great Ocean Road next weekend. Stelvio Pass it ain't but is sure nice to drive there!

talking about new Audis: here's some news about A1, the one hopes will be a Mini killer. Check it out here:

I'm somewhere in the middle on that new A1.......

I like it, but don't think it's anything hot, it does looks a bit boofy/porky on both the front and rear - just my opinion though :)

No doubt it'll have the trade mark ridiculous Audi price tag too :(
