My girlfriend asked me today what SRi meant, and I told her "Something Really Interesting" though I don't think thats correct :D..

Anyone know what the Opel model names stand for?

E.G GSi, SXi, CDTi (Common Diesel Turbo Injection?), CDX, SRi.

Car manufacturers sure seem to have a thing for the word 'injection' lol, looks like it's a mandatory inclusion at the end of any designation, they must have been real eager and happy to see the good ol carburators go out of fashion :)

Maybe they are over componsating for something with the word " Injection"

I think they grabbed the V from Cadillac in the US - don't they have the CTS-V etc etc?

Yeah they do i think. But the V in the Commodores is the upmarket / or Sporter versions.

I still believe they are just Variant codes on the Astra. But if anyone can find out or actually tell us would be good

Yep, spot on Pete. The V design is almost identical too.

And to answer the SS query... It stands for Super Sport. Used throughout GM on various models.
