Smudge, they are quite expensive in the U.K. as there are many jap imports here in australia, there are heaps of second hand toyota superchargers floating around for anywhere between $200-$300. with a bit of skilled engineering you could knock up a kit yourself. i don't know the availability of these superchargers in the U.K though.

check out http://www.rodshop.com.au/superchargers.htm
rod hatfield has developed kits for the holden 3.8 which give about a 30% increase over stock, these kits use the toyota supercharger. i'd lower your compression though, don't the V6's run like 10.5:1?

Apparently GM in the USA is going to put out a supercharger kit for the Ecotec 2.2L engine.

I found this on another website: The J-Body Organization (http://www.j-body.org/gallery/ias2004/crate.php)

The GM Performance Parts 2.2L supercharger kit is based on the Eaton M62 helical roots-type supercharger. Early estimates show the supercharger kit will deliver an 11-pound boost resulting in 175 horsepower at 5600 rpm – a 25 percent increase.

The kit will include supercharger assembly, intake manifold, all required gaskets, accessory drive brackets, tensioner, belt and new high-flow injectors. It will also include a throttle body adapter new inlet air duct, new cruise control cable and all of the fasteners required to assemble it to the engine. The kit is planned to be emissions certified and include a calibration to be downloaded by the dealer after installation

The GM Performance Parts 2.2L supercharger kit, expected to be available at the end of this year, will be offered as either a hard parts kit with no calibration or harness, or a platform-based street kit that will have both a calibration and harness. Both will be factory engineered and extensively tested to rigorous GM standards for performance and durability. Because the unit isn’t offered as a factory option, you’ll have to get yours through your local dealership.

I wonder how much it would cost to import a supercharger kit to Australia.

Thanks Mr Asylum, that made a very interesting read. Well worth an E-mail to find out what it'll cost to get over hear. Failing that I now have an idea what needs to be done. :D

no worries smudge, if you can check out any jap-import breakers/wreckers in your area, you might be able to find one. there were 2 models, an SC12 from the toyota 4AGZE and the SC14 from the 1GGZE, apparently you're not suppoesd to run these superchargers over 10000 rpm though otherwise they'll get damaged and the good thing is that they are the type that provide pretty much instant boost, not like the Z-engineering ones that are like a turbo with a belt stuck to them. i've heard these take a while before they start making effective boost.

i'd also get something like a unichip to remap your fuel system and make sure the air/fuel ratios are checked on a dyno to ensure your not running too rich or too lean.

the toyota superchargers also work better with a bypass valve (possibly bosch style). it consists of hooking one side up before the supercharger and one side up after the supercharger and then connecting a vacuum hose to it. with the bypass valve, the engine wont be trying to suck air through the rotors of the supercharger giving better off boost drivability.

I thnk that engine is used in the Saturn Ion Coupe (Red Line). Just about 150kw I think.

Those toyota models are unheard of here M8 but thanks for the charger type numbers, i'll have a look around
