Has anyone got one of those armrests from ebay? I'm interested in buying one but would like to know whether they're shit or not first....and whether they're worth it?

Here (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/VAUXHALL-ASTRA-MK5-H-NEW-ARMREST-BLACK-PADDED-TOP_W0QQitemZ160143754477QQihZ006QQcategoryZ10404Q QcmdZViewItem) is one example of it.

Some of the UK owners say the leather is not a match and the colour is slightly off.

I personally would like to see one in person and then make up my mind.

do they just slot into the console bit that I use as a cup holder?

I had a Irmscher Leather Armrest in my Astra G.
Yes, It slots into Console. It slots in & You still have space around the Handbrake. But the Irmscher Armrest is designed to fit like a Genuine Item.

Does it sit tight or does it rattle? And is it worth the $150?

you actually need to screw it to make it tight. However, i only use double side tape to hold it which works fine to me...:)

Yes, I've got one of these, but I did not purchase it from ebay !

Originally intended for my vert, it now resides in my Cali :)

I colour coded it's top pad to match my verts interior, but have since returned it to black for my Cali...

OK, rundown - it's O/A build and finish quality is good, "for the price", it has a large storage pocket and the whole thing can be tilted up if need be.

The 2 things I don't like about it, is that it sits a little too high and too forward - FYI I'm comparing it to the Isotta unit I now have fitted to my vert instead (but the Isotta does cost over 3 times as much !!!)

If you position it so that you still have access to the little pocket at the end of the centre console, it still sits too far forward IMO and interferes with gear changes - bumping of the elbow - but if you have an auto (as in the case of my Cali) it's no drama or problem...

As for fitting, it's straight forward, it comes with a bracket to suit, with 4 screws and head covers, for a neat finish - (make sure you order for Astra or whichever other car type, as the centre consoles are not all the same).

Hope that helps, let me know if you need more info or pics :)

No worries bornwild and yes I'll pass on the kiddy porn lol :D

Here's a pick of when it was installed in my vert, you can see what I mean about my elbow hitting it while changing gears, what I used to do was tilt it up during driving and put it back down only when cruising in 5th on Freeways, the Isotta works well without having to do that.

Here's a pic of it on the centre console removed from the car, you can clearly see how it sits very high and forward, in comparison my Isotta sits about 1" lower and also about 1 1/2" further back mounted in exactly the same position

Thanks heaps Wraith!! :D

But yeah mine is an auto as well so no worries there. You reckon I should go for it?

I mainly want it cause it does give a more luxurious feel to the car and yeah...I wanna rest my arm on something cause I don't do a hell of a lot with the left arm since it's an auto.... :)

Yes, most definitely go for it, if your installing it in an auto....it works well for that application and the price is good for what you get :)

Your reasons for wanting one are exactly the same as mine - engineers must think alike ;) it does finish off the centre console very neatly indeed and it's great to rest your arm on there for long drives, it's also a perfect arm support for when steering with the left hand.

I'll post a pic up for you tonight of it in my Cali :)

Oh, remember to order yours with the correct base - Astra is different to Calibra and so on :)

Here you go Bornwild, just took these couple of pics for you tonight, I've installed it so I can still use the little pocket at the end of the centre console (2nd pic) and as you can also see, there's no arm interference problem with an auto :)
