For anyone who watched the car show last Saturday, you would have seen these pics at the end of the show, they are of the new upcoming VE variants that both Holden and HSV are denieing at the moment, but they're real........some may have already seen these pics elsewhere, but it's the first I've seen of all these VE varaints - I just knew they would do another coupe, yippeeee ;)

Only a matter of time before we see them in showrooms, the pics were of real cars not photochops, some being driven at what looks like Holdens Lang Lang proving grounds.

I must say, the utes and the new ''''COUPE'''' look damn good :D

I believe the blue sedan with the massive wheels is the GTS/R with the LS7...oooohhhh yeah :D no doubt those coupes will also have an LS7 powered model   and they've adopted the Pontiac bonnet with the vents, well done ;)

And even the wagon looks HOT !!!!

And it looks like HSV will be extending their range to SUV's also

Apologies for the poor pictutre quality, I took them straight off the TV screen, enjoy :)

All those images have been around pretty much since VE was released. All computer edited images unfortunately, not real. Most of them from CGI Automotive.

DOH! :wall:

Pretty clever, the way they've got people in them and look like they're running on the road....few of those looked very real to me ??

I still believe all those models, except 'maybe' the wagon will come to life :)

Yeh the ones on the road do look very real, but you'd be surprised what a skilled photoshopper can do.

Here's the original image that was used for the 'Maloo', just to show..

Photoshopped or not, that HSV wagon looks unreal!!!!!!!!!

I agree its not hard to do.......but then neither was putting the 'new' camaro fibreglass mockup body on a monaro/GTO chassis as bumblebee in the Transformers movie. Clicky (http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Features/articleId=121044?tid=edmunds.il.home.photopanel..2 .*#32)

They make it sound hard, but realistically for testing/reaction purposes and with the ability of the GM dev team, it'd be no different to putting a dunebuggy body on a VW pan.

Yeh when you've got the support of GM supplying moulds and what not, shouldn't have too many problems.

If they get that HSV wagon out to production I will buy it no matter what cost.

One guy got bored while working at Fishermens Bend, spent some time in CAD and on their CNC mill and turned up a few 'Stubby Spanners" for his mates. They looked kind of like a cog with the lion logo on it.

All was well until management found out.........

then everyone wanted one, so they had to run off quite a few more........

Am I the only one who has no clue what you're talking about?

Basically GM have the funding (they also have most of the mega $$$$ equipment to be able to rapid prototype) to create whatever they wish.

eg. take your CAD car you want a bodyshell of. Send it to the CNC mill, carve it in negative(full size) out of a block of foam. Lay the resultant mold with fibreglass. break mold away, its a 1 off anyway. paint and fit to body. DONE.
Shouldnt take longer than a few days, day to carve, day to cast, 3 days for prep/paint/fit.

Easy all you need it the equipment and people capable of doing it.

Yeah I've done a rapid prototype once and never again.....mainly cause a 3 litre object cost me about $3000 to do......

And I don't think it's possible to be done in less than a week unless a team of people works on it 8hrs a day....

I never said it was self fundable/achievable, just that someone like GM could do it if they wished and extremely quickly, as they have the funding, equipment and manpower, at their disposal to get it done.

Things take time usually only due to lack of money. (if you have more money on offer than the other guy, yours will get done first eg. ANYTHING done in Dubai:D)

I would LOVE to have a walk around their R&D and prototype design labs.

Is it just me or do the wheels on the captiva look very much like the ones from the HRT ute concept from a few years back?

Ah pred, speaking my language! Yeh rapid proto typing is pricey, but well worth it. Do small scale rapid prototyping at uni in the form of 3D printing. Checked out a few RP places such as AW Bell, and ARRK Silhouette and they're premises are impressive! I'm going to be able to have a browse through the Holden design studios soon, so i'll let you know what it's like!

And the wheels on the Captiva CGi... could quite possibly be photoshopped off the HRT Maloo onto it.

i wouldnt be suprised if holden release the ute and wagon for the motorshow this year. along with ford release the next falcon to counter the fact..or vice versa

Yeh, Holden have confirmed the ute will be at the Sydney motorshow and HSV will be showcasing the new Maloo.

Ute will def be at the motorshow, however i reckon the Wagon will wait until the 2008 Melbourne motorshow

The wagon with a 3.0 litre V6 turbo diesel would be a ripper! If Holden would confirm it for 2010 I would start saving the next day :)

This is exactly the case....

I worked at a company where we got all our rapid foam and epoxy prototyping (mechanical engineering bits n pieces) done by the facility/machinery at RMIT in Melb. Bloody expensive alright !!!

Back on the topic, it seems the wagon is the most popular :D I for one want to see the coupes come alive :)

Can't wait to see what they've been working on... if what they're working on ever sees the light of day.

well if holden is planning to release the wagon in 2008, then ford should jump in and release its new wagon by end of this year, especially with gas.

but the new Orion Falcon won't be lanuched in sedan shape until March/April next year, so no chance of the wagon coming first!!

Did anybody see/read the article in last Fridays Herald suns Carsguide ???

The new VE ute in those pics exists.........no chop job this time, it is the real deal, snapped in camo on the Western Hwy :) it looks good...

I think it's a safe bet to assume we'll see all those other versions as well ie: wagon and coupe, it's just a matter of time :)
