I hope I was right...

The major differentiation between the Clubby R8 and GTS is the Magnetic Ride Control. There are other differences but very subtle and i'm not sure if it's enough for it to wear the GTS badge. However this does leave a space for a GTS-R...

and a according Wheels HSV will be unveling an E-Series supercar at the upcoming Sydney Motorshow. 7.0L LS7 V8 pumping out 385kw... Most likely to wear a GTS-R or 427 badge. Would make sense for HSV to once again have a performance king vehicle like the GTS-300 was for them in the VX-VY era. And if it is unveiled at the motorshow then you can pretty much gaurantee they'll produce it... a repeat of the Monaro 427 would not be good for HSV.

Yes, this ones been on the cards for quite a while........and I'll be wrapped if it comes to fruition too :)

GTS/R's have been proposed before but never happened...this one should make it :)

Should be a much bigger deal than the series 2 VT GTS-300 ever was ;)

I still remember that one well, it was around the same time I purchased my VT R8 :)

Hopefully GMH will go 2 steps further...

1. Do an AWD variant and
2. Introduce it in a coupe.

I'm drooling at the thought of that 7.0ltr V8 with a twin turbo install aaaarrrrrgggghhhhhhh * leans back and does a Homer Simpson *

They should have just bolted two turbo's on the 3.6L ecotec....would have produced much more power than that 7.0L.

Or put a supercharger on the 6.0L V8.....you'd be able to get 450kW and around 800-1000Nm out of it easy.......the 7.0L is pointlessly stupid if ya' ask me

Times change my friend...BMW was saying the same, look at their twin-turbo 3.0l V6 go.....:)

Times may be changing but HSV has built it's core business around NA V8's... this car, if it happens, is to coincide with their 20th anniversary. Therefore a 3.6L TT or even supercharging an 8 would be out of place. Also there is the unique factor of having an LS7 7.0L, anyone can go out and supercharge a 6.0L V8.

A few LS1/LS2 Specialist Shops in Sydney are already in the Works for a TT Kit for when it comes out :)
It will a Awesome Piece of Machinery. If I win Lotto, I'll buy one.

havent you heard? 1000hp from a stock motor is where its at these days :P

mercedes/bugatti have them and a handful of the exotica in europe have 800hp ish. ;) :D

Shelby in the states built the SSC aero..and got 1180hp from their twin turbo V8, with decent fuel economy too !!

And notice they don't use it in any of their M sport cars or their V8s :)

I feel a funny sensation in my pants, OMG 7.0L V8, i love it!!!!!!!!

LOL who needs forced induction when N/A from the factory its 385kW!!!!!

And i'm also so glad the M cars are still N/A, can't wait for the 4.0l V8 M3 to be released!!!!!!!!

The twin turbo 335i was just something different for BMW to try, when you look at the specs, its only 30kW more than the N/A 330i, i'm a bit of tinkering here and there wouldve got it to 225kW N/A!!!!

HSV PLEASE BRING THIS ONE OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dont let it be another failed project like the HRT427!!!!!

Nope, BMW used to have turbocharged vehicles in the past but abolished them, claiming Natural Aspiration is the way to go. Now they're back to old.

And yes, this one from HSV will not be released. I put my money on it. :)

Dunno where i said BMW has never has turbos before, but the 2002ti was quite a while ago, theyve always had high powered N/A cars, but with powers and demands increasing, theyve tried another avenue with the 335i!!!

Whether its remains in the long term is still to be seen!!!

And i hope HSV don't dissapoint me once again!!!

I'll put money on it that it will ;) how's a friendly wager of 20 bucks :)

I've been following the history of this one since it's inception, I reckon it's a goer, limited run only, as claimed by Wheels, but eventually as always, it'll become more common across the board with future models...

What Mat has said regarding HSV not going with or wanting forced induction is all true, like it or not, that's just the way it is (for now) with HSV V8 cars !
Also you have to consider - as I'm sure they have - that the suggested platform, the VE Commodore can't handle more than that anyway, they don't want to be producing a dangerous factory production car, leave that to all of us enthusiasts with our aftermarket modifying lol ;)

Although you now have the Walkinshaw line of aftermarket forced induction products for these and I think that's as close as you'll get to GMH/HSV factory forced induction.

Speaking for myself, I actually prefer it this way, because if I were to get my hands on something like that, it's what I'd do to make mine unique to others :)

I agree with Xplosiv57, I too have got a roaring hard on just thinking about that beautiful LS7 with 2 snails strapped on, it'll produce over 500kw and 1000nm at just 4 or 5psi :D

It's got the internals and even a dry sump oiling system to handle heaps more without taking it apart as you would have to do with an LS1 or LS2 to run mega numbers, I reckon the cars drive train will definitely callaspe first lol :)

It IS something different when you compare it to the 30+ years they've been away from forced induction and something BMW is not known to do!!

Hmmm dunno which side i wanna vote for, i'll chuck $10 for each side!!!

WOOOHOOO this is fun :)

Xplosiv, what your saying about BMW is true, but I reckon they'll 'slowly' introduce forced induction more and more.

It looks like the new upcoming M1 will be another forced induction powered car for them.

Maybe they just have to do it, 'to keep up with the jones' so that their marketing dept. can say, well if everybody else we compete with is offering forced induction options, so can we :)

Anyways back to that LS7 - I've still got a hard on over it :D

Yeah i agree mate, the 335i is basically a test vehicle to see if a petrol turbo BMW works well and sell well, if it does (and so far its been very good) then more of the range will be developed with turbos!!!

Havent heard anything about an M1, must investigate further...

Yeah i've had blue balls ever since the LS7 came out in the '07 Vette, once i see a HSV with the LS7 in it, i can release all this pressure lol!!!!!

DO IT HSV!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL give em a rest, blue is definitely a terminal colour hahahahaha :D my nuts are purple as we speak :o

Damn I love V8's :D they'll always be my favourite engine type :)

And yeh, the M1 idea/concept has been around for quite some time/years now, there's even a test mule regularly sighted these days.....

A quick search over the net should reveal all :)
