OK, so I've got the 'book' at home on the RS4... and it says this... (or very close to it cos I don't have it with me).

0-100 in 4.8 or 4.9 seconds... That's fine. It's only 300kw and would be pretty heavy, so that time is acceptable... But it also says... in a further 11.8 seconds... it'll have you doing 200kmh...

Now... that's roughly 16.5 seconds to get to 200 kmh.

My SRiT crosses the line of the 1/4 at 200kmh... in 14 seconds...
(no it doesn't.... I fkd up - see below)

You telling me my car is just as quick (quicker) as the RS4?

I don't want this going into a debate about which is a better car. I'm not interested (and it's a fkn no brainer). What I do want to know is... time V km/h...

Typo? Do they mean in 11.8 seconds you'll be doing 200kmh, not a further 11.8 seconds?

But then... 11.8 for a 300kw V8 is very fast... (ah, plus the extra time to the line) I would expect a low to mid 13.

thoughts?

Found this (1/4 mile times):

2006 Audi RS4 Quattro 4.8 13.3 (C&D September 2005)

Which I guess means, it would take 11.8 (total) to reach 200kmh... (probably cross the line doing 210-15ish...?)

N'mind... I guess I've answered it m'self.

Enjoy the read? :)

anyway, the question is you sure your car crosses the terminal @ 200kmh?

thats a mighty high terminal speed

Maybe I'm thinking 100mph... 160 kph...? Yeah I think that's it... My bad.

See... 15.8 seconds to 200 But does the 1/4 in 12.8... I'm sure it would be hitting 200 before the end of it's run no? It's certainly not uncommon for cars to do that... And with a high 12 second run, I would expect it...

This is where my confusion lays. Do I have it all wrong?

Indeed it is.... and what a fantastic ride to get there.

I have never driven anything as nice.

Now, this would be fun (http://youtube.com/watch?v=W--MUTZUtCA)!!! Looks like a hot lap day for clients or something?!

Looks like you've already got this one sorted........

First thing that came accross my mind when I read this was - are you sure the terminal speed reading on your 1/4 mile pass was accurate........certainly seemed to me, to be way too high for the ET time indicated :)

I knew there was a 160 in there somewhere... thought it was 160mph... but it was kmh...

And yes, on conversion... 160 doesn't = 200kmh anyway... its about 260 (according to google conversion)...

So, in summation your honour... witness is a dumb arse!!!

Nah, you just had a bad or lapse moment - we all do :)

easy way is 160kph = about 100mph

so if your trap speed is 100mph..then your doing about 160kph.

same as 0-62mph = 0-100kph times.

I only wish mine could reach that speed...
The on-road accel of the RS4 is unbelievable. Saw one here in Melb doing 80km, then punted it hard and he was gone.

Yes, it'll just hook up with all 4 paws and slingshot forward ;)

Most agree it is a superior car to E46 M3 in every way, pity about the price Audi Australia has put on this car :(

If you do a price conversion for what it sells for in Europe, even in the U.K it is over priced here by at least 40-50k putting it out of reach for most...
