Yeah all the good (IMHO) hard edge stying of the C has gone and been replaced by much softer details..

That is of course if the third pic is accurate, but then again, the GTC has somewhat similar styling.

It reminds me of a Nissan. I prefer the facelifted C over it.

I hope it'll get the AWD, like in the 2008 Saab 9-3.

Well the Opel GTC concept does have the AWD system and it is this car that will form the basis of the Vectra... With a 2.8L V6 Turbo, very nice.

Here's a very brief road test of the Opel GTC Concept... yes this concept can actually be driven and is basically production ready!

Be keeping the Veccy C then

And take the CGi with a grain of salt... Most of the styling is purely guess work on behalf of the person who did that image, It's what they think it COULD look like.

thats also a 2 door.

Could only imagine what a 4 door would look like...........

Talking about using the 2 door as a concept, does anyone remember from the Nissan Tiida Concept from 2005 motor show. What a hot little hatch, until they turned it into a 4 door production car.

See the photos below. They better not do this to the GTC.

I think Opel will be true to their GTC concept in taking the styling into production with the Vectra. They did so with the GTC Coupe (current Astra Coupe), the production version looks almost identical.

Yeah Mat you are most likely right.... the grille looks added on as well... oh well, time will tell ;) not that it will probably come here, seeing as we have the epic piece of junk that is the Epica

I have a distinct feeling it will look way better in the flesh. This is one fight Opel doesn't want to loose to the new Mondeo.

Exactly. Cannot tell anything as yet, apart from a rough idea of the form of the body.

Rememeber, the third pic is what some dude in front of a computer is guessing it will look like from spy pics, not the final production model.

In saying that though, they will have to work hard to make it look better or even as good as the new Mondeo - fell in love with the thing when I saw it in Casino Royale!!

Hmmmm still tricky to tell much due to the camouflage, but from some angles, looks like the bum tapers in a lot - however the roof line looks lower (and much better than the computer generated artists impression)

Oh no!!

Is that a Bangle Butt or some clever camouflage??

Apart from that, it looks a whole lot better than the comgen.

Have you noticed what they're doing in Germany, Mr Mooney????????

You mean the ford badged Mazda6 ;)

Not correct...its actually a mazda badged ford.

Ford has made the chassis and developed the car...which jaguar, ford, volvo and mazda will share.

The mondeo and jag look almost alike although the jag will be more classy.

The mazda will run along the same lines...they have to compete...with different engines off course.

The new Mazda 6 will finally come with a V6.. 3.5L Cyclone <ford engine> Duratec 35 <aka> Mazda MZI

The Duratec 35 is unique in that it will deliver its 265 hp (198 kW) rating on regular (87 octane) gasoline, giving it at an advantage when compared against its Japanese competitors of similar displacement and power levels. There is a 3.7L version with 275hp/270tq, slated to go in a fwd passenger car around 2008-2009.

Personally i think ford have finally got something right and the new mondeo will look and perform well if priced right for Australia...so Holden should wake up and bring the new Vectra out here....as i dont think the Epica will compare...it doesnt even compare to a camry...

But im guessing...Holden wont...as they are set in their ways now with cheap korean imports for more sales/profit. The Vectra will be too high priced like before to survive against its cheaper rivals.

Now....we just have to wait for the MPS Mazda 6....hmm a turbo V6 maybe.

Opel Vectra D/Vauxhall Insignia has already been confirmed for its debut release at the London Motor Show in July 2008. :D

Cheers

Interesting that Holden's marketing director has had a swipe at Ford over the Mondeo saying that Holden had tested the market with an expensive mid-sizer and it didn't work.

He should have said that Holden tried to create Vectra as a premium product without giving it any support in the market place. Ford will have watched, learned and will do better to strategically market the Mondeo.

If Ford can sell all the Mondeos it imports, maybe we'll see a change of heart from Holden. Ford and Holden know that their volume sellers are in the most volatile segments of the market and both understand the importance of niche marketing. That's why we have the Tigra and to a lesser extent certain variants of Astra, Focus and Fiesta. The Vectra name is unfortunately dead in this market, so a niche competitor such as a new Insignia may find its way here yet.

If Holden can make a business case out of selling Cadillac and Hummer, Insignia could be a nice fit in 2009 alongside the new GM-DAT Epsilon vehicles, existing Astra & Captiva and the Commodore. Oh....and the Epica.
