Hi all,

Not sure if this has been posted here yet or not... but here goes.

Wanna know why the current Barina (Daweoo Kalos) has a 2 star crash rating... check out the Barina ANCAP Crash Video (http://www.caradvice.com.au/2159/why-you-shouldnt-buy-a-holden-barina/)

Then take a look at the Yaris Crash Video as a comparison (http://www.caradvice.com.au/2199/toyota-yaris-crash-test-video/)

Mental note to self: never get in a current model Barina/Kalos....

Cheers,

Andrew.

Never get in a mid 90's BMW or Mercedes because they would achieve the same results.

2 stars? Could of been 0 if it had no airbags.

what shits me is that the previous (opel) barina had a 4 star rating and was almost always the top performer in its class....so they are using the good name to sell a MUCH crapper car. oh well seems most people realise this, but it hasnt stopped them being sold by the truckload :(

I quite agree with you there; There's no way in hell you'll see me in a korean manufactured anything, going by that filmclip.

Having said that though, the old SB-Barina doesn't fare that much better, if you watch these clips from start to finish:

Essential Moral: DON'T SPEED!
...Because no matter what vehicle you're in, be it a Kalos, Barina, Smart, or a frigging Rolls Royce for that matter, you're not going to walk away from a 70mile/Hr (112km/Hr) smash. Amen.

Strangely enough the "korean crap" Viva is a 4 star car :)

IN actual fact the Kalos/Barina scores a 3 star crash rating in ENCAP.

But what about comparing it to something a little more its age

Exactly.... compare the old Opel Barina to the current GM Daewoo Barina

And it all seems to depend on how each company interprets the results

You get what you pay for

It is? I am assuming that NCAP ENCAP etc are all independent and have no association with the respective manufacturers.

And yes they would certainly like everyone to think that.... but no. Many overseas cases have proven this time and time again :(

actually the smart car is very well made. there is a clip on you tube that has it smashing into a concrete barrier and it comes out intact.
you can even open the doors.

I beat you to it my friend. ;) Check my earlier post on this thread.

As I implied in that post, even a "Tridium Safety Cell" in a Smart won't save you if you hit something at 70mph.
In oncoming traffic, you can easily double that figure.
