new bonnet new headlights, new front bar, new radiator, thermofan, condensor, new grill, whole front end realighned (costly), new numberplate ;).
i'm sure there is a fair bit more we cant see.

They'll repair that... they've repaired a lot worse damaged cars.

i'm not so sure, remember it's 80% of the cars value, and it's a base model car, dont know what year, around 2000 i would say.
it depends exactly what hidden damage is there.

do you realise what parts cost? plus r&r plus paint. i think itll be a lot more than $3500. ill be watching to see with interest on this one

bonnet alone is about 800 ;). supply only.

oh, and the major cost is in the realighning of the rest of the front end, gaurds may be damaged too.

i have seen a slight front impact cost 3500 on a 15 year old car.

but who really knows, it might be more or less damaged then it looks.

it's not that bad IMO, i've seen worse get repaired, in fact i've had worse done to my car that's been repaired

Easily fixed, so not the end of this Astra's life just yet :)

Only concern you need to have here, is to hope you get a good job done by whoever the repairer will be, alot of insurance jobs arn't done very well at all, unfortunately...

Lucky the roo didn't hit/go through the windscreen, wouldve been so much worse!!!!

Yeah hopefully the insurance company fixes your car properly, i know the repairs they did on one of my last cars was absolutely shocking, very poor job!!!

I said that to Dad .. but he's considering a diesel Golf if it's written off. That won't stop me from suggesting the 1.9 litre diesel Astra.

Update on the parent's Astra.

It made it back to Bendigo on the back of a truck, and has been assessed by the insurer. They reckon it'll be about $6000 to fix it, and have given the green light for repairs. Should be fixed by the end of next week .. now I just need to convince them to Opelise it.. heh
