View Full Version : Turbo? or not Turbo? That is the question.

Can I have someone's experienced opinion?

Is this vehicle a Turbo, or just a dressed up Sri 2.2?

Seems pricey for a non turbo, and cheap for a turbo.

I think I can see a "turbo" badge on the rear, but could be a $25 slim craig special...

i'd say turbo, cos i don't know why anyone would go to the trouble to get leather interior, tinted lights, turbo rims, badges, and kit, just to make a 2.2l look like a turbo... I could be wrong tho...

Probably clicked the wrong button when placing the ad.

Closely looking @ the pics...its seems to be a SRi-T. <wheels, leather, front spoiler(fogs)>

Im guessing maybe a typo in description with 2.2L nat asp engine.

That isnt really that cheap for an 03 Turbo astra...its on par. But rather expensive for a 2.2L SRi.

Cheers

although the info says aspirated, which would be non turbo, but basically apart from that, it 100% turbo :).
oh and it has the c/f stickers on the b pillar, i say turbo!
ring the dealer n tell em they suck, dont even know a turbo :D.

The photos are absolutely of an SRiT.... wrong photos to go with the ad maybe

Although that is massively overpriced for a SRi NA, they were around $18-19k when I got my SRiT ~7-8 months ago.

Edit: auzvectra, it must be a Holden dealership... they have NFI.

Everytime I call them for a service
Me: I want to book my 2003 Astra SRi Turbo for a service
Them: Is that an AH or a TS ?
Them: Is it 1.8L or 2.2L ?
Them: Is it Auto or Manual ?

I would say its a turbo, perhaps mismatched photo's who knows with online adverts. i have seen many Diahatsu Falcons and Holden WRXes

it lists the VIN number there, just give GMH a call and see what exact model it is :p

Looking at it could go either way. Last of the 2.2 SRi came with the SRi T body kitand rims to Australia. Leather could have been an Option on them or standard. Ebay ad reads as 2.2 ltr. But if there is a turbo badge on the rear then it could be a SRi T.

Im leaning to the dealer has put the wrong engine size there. Maybe give them a ring to be sure

Red convertible interior WILL NOT fit into the hatch or any other model, only the front seats are compatible with other models and only the front door cards for the 3 door hatch only !!!

its a turbo............steering wheel, leather, bigger front brakes, not a bad price from a dealer, I've seen cars with double the mileage for that price

After much debate, and quite a unanimous (spelling?) decion that it looks like a turbo, i gave the dealer a call to find out for sure....

And the result is? "oh... i'm not sure. I'm not too familiar with Holdens. I'll find out and give you a call back!"

Seems not even the guys who have to sell them know!!

30 seconds later got a call to confirm it is a Turbo after all, but it sounded like they were considering re-evaluating the price tag on it now!
Sounds like i will have to book in for a test drive on the weekend! :p

print the ad and take it in... look at it, like it, then pull out the ad and buy it

they would just say it's a typo if they wanted it to be higher,
dean in qld here had his for sale for $19K by the way.
not sure if it's still for sale but.
