Opel Kadett??? nice, every part original???

As far as the guys recalls - he has had it for about 12 years - been garaged for most of its life - only done about 30,000 miles....

very very little rust....and even has the original radio (casette and Alpine equaliser)....

he still wont sell it to me - even tho he is moving abroad... :(

They are becoming more rare as the rust takes over - they had a stand at a big vauxhall / Opel show here last year - there were 8 examples, 7 of which had been 'tamprerd with' (Turbo conversions etc)

Nice car, need a set of period alloys though! Looks origanal, apart from the Irmie Grill and light surrounds.

They put out 115hp, went 0-60mph in 9.2 seconds and had a top speed of 116mph, not to bad for 1984.

The last car I owned in the UK was one of these, (but that was 17 years ago), a Black Mk1 GTE Astra, reg. A232MEX, was a great car, lowered springs with Spax shocks, extractors, full exhaust system ......... memories as they say! (first front wheel drive car I ever owned having been an RS2000 Escort fanatic - needed a hatch for the dog!)

Did a check with the Mk1 Owners club in the UK and nothing has been seen/heard of my old one for years so presumably scrapped/written off - sad that.

Yeah, the Irmie grille and twin headlight conversion, (not surrounds - might even have been Morette but cannot remember that far back!), was pretty popular with the GTE Astra even way back then!

random.....

The grill / surrounds were a factory fit option at the time as were the alloys.....which as suggested would finish the car off for sure - baffles me why the person who bought it new didnt go for the wheels.....

I am of the age where the liks of the below were all the rage :-

MKI Ford Fiesta XR2
MKI VW Golf GTi (hubba hubba)
Lotus Sunbeam (2.2 litre of rear wheel drive mayhem)
VX Astra GTE MKI / MKII (Digi dash)

Anything early / mid 80's in the 'hot hatch' and i could go on for hours....:D
