and i have now decided.

My new car in oz will be:

A Holden (Opel) Calibra Turbo

I rest my case now..

Reasons:

1: Its an Opel
2: It goes tsss (as if thats not reason enough)
3: Its within my budget
4: I actually wanted the Astra Turbo Coupe, but for some daft reason, they never got it in oz....
therefore the Calibra is next choice..

here are some that i picked out..

The 1st one looks nice, love that front bar, plus it “looks” to have a lot of new parts fitted.

It’s imposable to judge a car buy looking at pictures, as they say never judge a book by its cover.:D

good decision getting a calibra hehe..

just be careful tho.. not a lot of reliable turbo ones still floating about..

it's mostly the transfer box thats the problem.. but if you dont mind having the turbo in fwd only, then you'll be right..

without us you'd probably buy a nissan :p

suprise surprise..

actually a 200sx was one of the options i looked at..

along side a rex, and the SRI-T (Which falls just out my budget, Bugger)

But i reckon i will be happy with the Calibra

Another future Calibra owner - well done :)

I also own a one - a mint V6.

IMHO, I would steer clear of the turbo Cali and go for an Astra T, or one of the others you've mentioned above, you can't go wrong with the Nissan S15, but if your budget won't allow - fair enough

My 2 suggestions to you, which you've probably done anyways are:

1. Join the local Cali forums - wealth of info and stuff for all things Calibra.
2. Make sure you do HEAPS of research and study into the Cali turbo model, before you buy one, they are the one variant that bite hard when things go wrong and they have plenty that goes wrong - make sure you buy a good one and that's pretty rare these days.

All the best of luck, let us know how you go :)

If I were you I would go for the 1st one - Lex's cali has been very well looked-after, lots of performance parts fitted and he's on www.clubcalibra.org often.

Have actually seen his car in the flesh at meets and it's in very good nick - before the turbo he had a cali 16V before so he knows how to take care of a cali.
