Yeh it's a 1.6L Turbo with 141kw(192hp) and 230Nm. 0-100 in 7.2 secs, top speed 225km/h. Interestingly the 230Nm can be boosted to 260Nm temporarily with an 'overboost' feature.

Koreans didn't have a hand in the Corsa D design though.

No, the italians did. Platform is the same as the Punto

Yep same gamma platform, but different designers in terms of styling. The design teams at Italdesign-Giugiaro and Fiat Centro Stile(headed by Frank Stephenson) designed the new Punto. The Corsa D was designed by the GM Europe team lead by Chief Designer Niels Loeb.

UK price is $38,482.91 AUD.
Considering the UK price of the Astra is £18995 or $46,901.31 AUD, I don't expect it to get here at all! Which is a shame for $35k I would get one in a heartbeat...and so would a lot of Polo GTI owners.

To make it work Holden would need to have the pricepoint around $30k. They won't, so we won't see it here :(

Was going to post something similar, but I've got hi-res pictures and a press release:

Corsa VXR looks the Stuff in red. Once Again Opel / Vauxhall have pulled off a Hot Hatch that looks the part . I think the VXR Corsa will look do the likes of the Polo GTi and will put up a challange to the Renault Clio

the VXR looks the mutts - but the standard car is dire, boring, and V dull.......only seen them as driving instructor cars over here - I have a feeling that the young lads wont see these as the 'cool' any more and I can see them running over to the likes of the citroen C2 and Polo GTi's..

I think it looks absolutely fantastic. All i can say is I hope it is imported as a special model. It just seems too good for us not to have it.

It's got a bigger intercooler than the 2.0L Turbo! lol Well longer anyway, it's probably about the same size.

they seem to have Borrowed Holdens Design And made it suit the VXR Corsa. They Should do the Same to the VXR Astra

That does look good and yes it does look like a 'squashed up' VXR lol :D

Mags are a nicer design than 19" VXR rims IMO.

Rear triangle exhaust tip also looks better than the one fitted to VXR's

Mirrors are real cool too !!!

Interior dash styling is not to my liking, looks very Daewoo IMO ....

Would be very interesting if it came to Oz, Peugot will be releasing their new 206 range which will also feature a 1.6 ltr turbo engine (sourced from BMW).

hmm still think the SRi-T looks more 'comfortable' with it's proportions.
