Just wanted to say Merry Christmas to everyone, and I hope it will be a grand one for all. If you have been good, I am sure Santa will come to you (and don't anyone try to tell me otherwise, and spoil my fun) :p

Wow, what a year, and quite frankly, cannot wait to see the back end of it. 2006 has brought to me many lows, but is ending on a high.

What has happened thus far, as we draw 2006 to a close:
The bad:
1. Divorce officially came through (a 12 year chapter of my life closed)
2. Broke up with my partner of 2 years (cheating on me)
3. Resigned from my job of 2 years
4. My ex not paying her share of the joint home loan (that she is living in)
5. Considered suicide 3 times this year

The good:
1. Found a FWB
2. Became my own boss and 50% ownership in a new company
4. Business better than ever
5. Joined Opelaus
6. Found new friends at Opelaus
7. Found great new friends within the Opelaus Clowns: Qld Division
8. Signed a sale contract on my house the ex is living in for more than expected
9. Reduced my working hours from 80 hours per week to 40
10. Now have a social life (well, sort of)
11. See a psychologist very very regularly, and making baby steps forward

What I do know, is there are people out there with worse situations, and that humbles me sincerely.

I look forward eagerly to 2007, and just cannot wait to kickstart it along.

So to all, Merry Christmas, and have a very safe time of it as well. If you are driving anywhere (I am heading to Bundaberg, about 4.5 hours north of Bris Vegas), then please drive safe. Cars are replaceable, but Opelaus members are not ;)

7. Found great new friends within the Opelaus Clowns: Qld Division
and we are glad to have you too Thomas

8. Signed a sale contract on my house the ex is living in for more than expected

Woohoo!!!! I reckon that'd be at the top of my list of good things
I'm not game to think about a list like yours Thomas - a lot has happened, but a lot wants to be forgotten

Anyway, I also want to wish everyone a happy and safe xmas and new year!

Donna, it has been a wonderful experience to meet you all... I look forward to more social events

I see this as a cleansing time, and a way to face my demons

And, for the first time in a number of years, I sort of am looking forward to Christmas :)

Merry Christmas All - and Happy New Year!!!

Seems like only thr other month 2006 rolled in. Time flies, and much like Tfer, 2006 wasn't a great year for me either - but it certainly was a learning experience.

I will start with the general things - list the bad and then finish with the good, because I want to end the year good.

In general - I;

* Moved out of home
* Made my lifestyle clear to everyone
* Moved towns (Ipswich to Logan)
* Changed jobs MANY times

Bad

1. Fought with my Mum a lot
2. Moved out of home to live with my cousin and brother - to be later ripped off!
3. Began a drug habit
4. Drank a hell of a lot, excessive amounts
5. Lost many jobs due to drugs and alcohol
6. Lost friends because of drugs
7. Dug myself into debt
8. Was treated poorly from many in Ipswich and developed a bad reputation
9. Starved for a few months - partly choice - partly drugs - partly money

Then, the good

1. Met Ashley - without a doubt the best thing that has ever happened to me. Without him, 2006 wouldn't be ending on a high note.
2. Gained experiences, MANY experiences, so I can make better decisions
3. Lost weight, a hell of a lot
4. Got two new cars - finally settling back to an Opel
5. Secured a job with RACQ - and actually held it
6. Kicked drugs, without any help but my own determination
7. Moved out of nowhere headed Ipswich
8. Sorting my finances out to put me in a much better position, or, where I should have been all along
9. Cut the bad people out of my life, or cut contact
10. Made up with old friends

In general... 2006 wasn't a bad year, just a year for new experiences which will no doubt help me in life, and have already helped me beyond my imagination.

I'm in a much better place now and feel really good about 2007 and it won't be a repeat of 2006 - things only get better as they say.

:) Merry Christmas :)

Crispy, I do believe 2007 for you, like me, will be a bumper year. Somehow I think your new career will be very rewarding :D

Once again the end of the year has caught us all unaware. I wish everyone a safe and happy christmas.

While my year wasnt as eventful as others, i did enjoy the ups and downs that it held....

The bad:
* Being to comfortable in my job to pull myself out ot it
* The normal relationship heart aches

The good:
* Finding a person who helps complete me, and makes me exceptionally happy
* Realising NOW is the time to ditch the bad job and head in a better, brighter direction
* Making alot of awesome friends that i treasure
* Getting myself into an Opel
* A year that my family had no great dramas (is always a good one)

I think that this has certainly been a year that i can be thankful for. As it took a lot of thinking to come up with those 2 bad points.

Once again i hope everyone enjoys a safe and happy Christmas. And we all look forward to a very porductive new year :)

met all the new qld opelaus people and tocau boys

Yes Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to all!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its been a good year, gone very quick (i think i say that every year) but all in all pretty alright!!! To be honest, i can't really remeber the beginning of the year but ill try and make a list of things....

BAD:
-Sold my beloved 1st car the VR Commodore (big mistake)
-Made high people in my job very angry
-Didn't find a female companion (still 8 days to go)
-Drank too much at times and did regrettable things

GOOD:
-Bought the Astra!!!!
-Through buying the Astra, found this lovely forum and met some cool people from Victoria (yay im not the only one)
-Also met others online on here from all over Australia and the world even
-Went on heaps of random road trips
-Caught up with heaps of old mates
-Found new mates too
-Took heaps of photos of stuff for rememberance
-Learned heaps at work and finally got some decent tools
-Didn't sell the Astra (wouldve been a silly mistake for now)
-Didn't move out (i like being at home)

Im glad some of u guys here have had a successful 2006 in which you achieved great things, i say good luck for 2007!!!

Also congrats to the Admin for such a successful year, especially with the broken records and the large amount of members, without your great efforts, this forum wouldn't most likely exist, so to you i say THANKYOU!!!!

Merry Christmas everyone.

I refuse to list the bad on christmas eve...and after hitting the sparkling wine its all good ;)

My highlights this year include:

Trips to Melbourne, Sydney and tomorrow Broome (I will make this flight second time around  )
Joining OpelAus and developing some great friendships and finding what it means to laugh again.
Resigning from my work after 9 years...and now they are negotiating having me back under my terms.

Take care over the silly season all.

Amanda.

My year has been 'interesting'

The Bad:
Bad blood with 'old' family
Lost $4k on sale of Mrs Preds 10,000km old 2005 Getz
Got S**t on by a company I worked my guts out for for years for because the big bosses are wankers and convinced they can run a multi-mil business like a backyard one.

The Good:
Got Married.
Got headhunted by a great company.
Started a completely new business thats going as fantastic.
Still alive, no major diseases or organ failures.
'New' family is getting along nicely.
Learned lots of stuff.
Beer really does taste bad, its not just me.

Merry Christmas and happy new year beckie, it seems it is a general consensus in here that we are all hoping 2007 will be a step up from 2006.

Bit strange, but I drank 5-6 scotches last night and have no ill effects..... and I am a one pot screamer!
