hey guys,
just have a question, and of you own a astra g (preferably the one who has a 90,000km timing belt service) or the astra ah. and when they had their timing belt changed, was the water pump changed as well?

i keep getting different stories llike you should change it etc. however shouldnt i just change it only when its necessary, and being its only got 90,000km that wouldnt be so?

i would say people think it's just a good idea to do it at the same time as it isnt easy to get to, and with the sri-t's pump prone to dieing around 90-100K, i'm sure the 1.8L is the same, i would say do it, and save some money in the long run.

When Holden replaced part of my motor after the timing belt snapped the pump was not changed. Two weeks later the pump went, damaging the new belt and set me back $600.

My car is out of warranty but they replaced the cam belt and head with no cost to me.

I fought them regarding the pump but to no avail.

i had to replace my water pump early this year on my 2003 astra g. i haven't hit 90k yet (almost....another 1 month n i'll get there!!)
i was loosing radiator fluid - had to change it.

the dealer didn't replace it when they changed the timing belts at 60k service back in feb this year.
