Unsure if a topic has been started like this in the past, but it always brings up some intresting conversations and photos.

If you have any photos of other cars you own, or have owned, post them here. In my 6-7 years of driving, I've owned:

1989 Nissan Pulsar Vector - My first car
http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/10/web/2530000-2530999/2530466_1.jpg

1989 Mitsubishi Galant - Own for only 3 months so I could park it at a train station when I worked in the city.
http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/10/web/2530000-2530999/2530344_1.jpg

2002 Daihatsu Terios - My first ever brand new car, it drove like a boat but went really well on sand dunes.
http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/10/web/2530000-2530999/2530348_1.jpg

2004 Suzuki Liana GS - Not a bad car, drove really well, looked like a fridge, but really wanted to get into a convertable while I still had the chance. The wheels from this car were put into the Tigra.
http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/10/web/2530000-2530999/2530336_1.jpg

And finally, 2006 Holden Tigra

Wow lots of LD Astra/N13 Pulsar owners here.

I had a Datsun 180B with a 200B motor. Oh yeah feel the power.
Then
1988 LD Astra ('The Pulstra')
Then
1998 Nissan Navara
Then went back to the Pulstra (Kind of stopped working and the Navara wasn't being used much like it is now)
Pulstra died again, this time terminally. Luckily a few days before that happened I had agreed to buy my Astra H CDX Coupe.

My car history is:

1st car: 1979 Mitsubitshi Lancer Coupe - RWD and could only drift in the wet as no power. Really was a piece of sh#t but it was my first car and I will always have fond memories.

2nd car: 1997 Hyundai Excel GX, first brand new car and was pretty good for the $$$.

3rd car: 2000 N15 Pulsar SSS - Purchased brand new & great car. SR20 motor was fantastic...

4th car: 2002 XC Barina SRi - Purchased brand new & this would have to be the best handleing car I have ever owned. Engine power a bit average.

5th car: MY02 WRX - Purchased second hand from a mate & was awesome - I would buy another one. I have sold this car last week.

6th car: MY05 XC Barina 1.4L - for my wife - She loves it. Car is currently for sale.

7th car: MY07 AH Astra SRi Turbo - Not delivered until the end of January 2007. Purchase contract all signed up and cant wait.

All been good cars except maybe the first lancer that was a POS.

Cheers

Gotta find some pics and scan them! (many of these cars I had before digital cameras were around)

*** 1950 Ford Prefect Ute - grandfathers car passed on to me so technically always seen as my first car and one I will always have and therefore will be my last as well! ***

1) 1979 Volvo (was a hand me down and in the beautiful shade of “Power Buff”)
Damn thing did over 700k’s with the motor reco’ed once!
2) Holden HG Belmont with a 3 on the floor conversion!
3) Subaru wagon about an 83 model!
4) TE Cortina Wagon with the big 6 in it! (crap car with to much torque for itself)
5) 89 Subaru Wagon – non descript serviceable vehicle
6) 2500TC Triumph sedan! (my first Auto just for a change) actually went fairly hard but would give a little skip to the left from the rear when changing from 1st to 2nd under full acceleration! Saw it a couple of years after selling it being driven round with 5 bull dykes in it!
7) VK commodore with a carby black motor and manual box! Probably my most disliked car
8) 1992 MH Barina Auto bought new (was actually my girlfriends car but it was the only car we had for a while and she did become my wife so I include it here)
9) VR Wagon
10) JSII Vectra I have now!
10.5) 1993 MH Barina for the wife as a runabout!

LOL well actually most of those cars i had before i was a mechanic, even before i considered being a mechanic!! Now that i am a mechanic, i don't have the time (or funds for that matter) to get another project car.

I'd rather be at uni, ends up getting you a job which pays alot more, and theres females at uni, something i really miss when i work with a group of guys LOL!!!!

1st- 1991 Subaru Fiori 800cc 5spd- Not the quickest but incredibly hard to kill and excellent fun on dirt etc. due to short wheel base ;)

2nd- 1986 ST162 Celica 2L 5spd- Only had it for a week or two then it burnt :( electrical fault due to dodgy mods by a previous owner.

G'day All,

My list is short but covers a fair amount of time;

1st Car 1991 - Carolla GTi, 1.6 litre, 100 kw at a screaming 7500 RPM. Bought when new, it is still with us as the families second car. Will not ever sell it, has become part of the family.

2nd Car 2004 - Pug 307 HDi, 2 litre. 66 kw & 210 Nm in a heavier body than the GTi. Not the fastest thing off the lights by any stretch, but I did over 60,000 km in 2 years in the thing. Very comfortable at highway speeds and would sit on 110-120 kph all day. Ultimately let down by sluggish performance and questionable French build quality.

3rd Car 2006 - Astra CDTi - 1.9 litre, 110 kw & 320 Nm. A beast! Everything that the 307 should have been. Fast, solid build, handles fantastic, looks great, black paint job. Unless something goes boom, will keep for at least 5 to 7 years.

As you can see, we look at cars for loooonnng term value.

Cheers

I love lists (hope I have gotten the years right):

1984 white Corolla Sedan 1.3l 4 spd manual (last of the RWDs): engine reworked to rally specifications, 2" engine back exhaust, downdraft custom weber, deleted the pollution gear. Saas sports steering wheel and gear knob, and Saas racing seat for driver. Sounded like a 2 stroke motor bike at 8,000rpm in 4th (and this thing only had 4 gears). Power increased at the flywheel by approx 100% (from memory up from 41kw to 86kw). Put 180,000 km on her, until basically destroyed in a moment of madness.
2000 Green-gold Suzuki Sierra soft top 4wd 1.3l 5 speed manual with white wheels and roof. Tremendous fun on beaches (didn't need 4wd on the beach, just getting on and off) and national park trails, but absolutely hopeless on roads, and whilst the ride on the beach was excellent, you needed a kidney belt on the road for passengers. Put 86,000 km on her. Decided I needed a quicker convertible, for the highways.
1999 white Ford Capri convertible 1.6l 5 speed manual Ser 1. Yes, it did leak in heavy rain (after about 3 hours of rain) and driver's seat was the one which got satched. 6 left and 3 right hand side headlight motors replaced (under warranty all) and 2 roofs (only paid for one). Put 360,000km on her without any major work done.
2002 star silver Vectra CD Hatch 2.6l V6 5 speed manual. When she was going she was truly magnificent, but having to be off the road for 35 individual warranty works was a little bit on the boring side. It truly amazed me at the time as to her grunt (yeah I know, all little sohc 4 cylinders prior). 115,000 km put on her when I left my wife at the time.
2003 bamboo Opel Vectra CDXI hatch 3.2l V6 5 speed manual (well actually build date is 12/02 which makes her one of, if not the oldest of the current model in Australia). Having paid cash for a 2004 black VW Gold 2.0l Sport for my ex as part of our settlement, I decided I needed a bigger bolder brighter weapon (I mean vehicle) and chose this Veccy (two on the floor to choose from at the time, the other was star silver, hence chose the bamboo one).I love the current Veccy the most out of all of my rides, with would you believe it, the Corolla in second (it was big fun). :D

First Car

1997 Ford Laser Liata Hatch. Great little car changed the whole exhaust with extractors, lowered. Very reliable. Been in the family since 50,000kms, now got close to 180,000kms dad knows it and has only need a new clutch very reliable and regret selling it.

Second and third cars together

1994 Ford Laser Lynx complete with a turbo engine conversion 18's and bought a 1990 Astina SP as the daily driver so I didn't have to leave the Lynx everywhere.

fourth car

2001 Mazda BJ Astina Shades, another great car, cheapest car to run and insure.

Current car

2000 Astra TS CD Hatch, not too bad, handles better, has more features then the Astina. Most expensive car I have had to maintain. First car that has needed work. I have had to replace 2 window regulators, got ignition problems to sort out.

Lesson to be learnt, I won't buy opel or holden again, stick to mazda built like I did to begin with as they are alot more reliable

Id believe the Corolla as a fun car, and ultra reliable.... But the Opel is just a more classy car
Toyotas are well built but boring.

Car 1: 1991 Toyota Camry 'Spirit' Edition
2.0L 4cyl, auto sedan.

http://members.iinet.net.au/~baedmunds/tim/MyCamry01.jpg

Great first car. Tortured this one. Water pump seized, and I ran it for nearly a full week without any coolant before I realised what was going on. How the engine survived I'll never know. Screwed the allignment up when I mounted a kerb at ~50kph (blew the front passenger tyre, cracked the sidewall in the rear passenger). Timing belt snapped (as a result of the water pump) CV boots split, joints subsequently started clicking. It was very tired when I traded it in.

Boot was magnificent though. It was the road trip car of my group. We could cram so much inthe boot of that thing and still comfortably seat 4 and not hold up traffic with the weight. Nicknamed 'The Tank'.

Car 2: 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer GLi
1.5L 4cyl, manual coupe.

http://members.iinet.net.au/~baedmunds/tim/Lancer/withwheels/105-0501_IMG.jpg

At the time I was comparing this to the Astra SXi, which was popular enough at the time that no matter what showroom I visited, I couldn't find one in the flesh. I would have gone the SXi as well too, had it not been for the price difference (I would have wanted to fit some HBD stuff too). So price was the deciding factor when I bought this one. Not a bad car, for the purpose of a run-a-bout the Lancer has definately stood the test of time, given this was still the basic CE shape that we had first seen back in 1994.

Given this was my first proper car that I saw as 'worthy', I decided I wanted to make it properly mine. So I kitted this one out. 17" ROH Adrenalin rims, King Springs, KYB Shocks, 2.5" Cat-back cannon exhaust, speaker replacements, darkest legal tint, while it was still a white Lancer and had the common Adrenalins, it was enough to make it 'my car'.

Until 15,000kms arrived, and the fricken thing started to shake itself to bits. I had the rattles fixed under warranty, but they just kept returning. By 18,500kms I had had enough, and so I said goodbye.

Car 3: 2002 Holden Vectra GL
2.2L 4cyl, manual sedan

http://members.iinet.net.au/~baedmunds/tim/vectra/smaller/vectra07.jpg

Given the cost of the mods I put into the "Piece'o'sh!tti" with no long lasting value, I wanted to find a car that looked modded, but without the high price tag. I spotted the Vec in the local Holden yard, and instantly saw my plates on it. Took it for a test drive, and put an offer down (something so spontanious and uncharacteristic of me that when we got back home Dad just looked at me and went "wow". The Lancer purchase was something quite different, at least 3 weeks of deliberation...)

This had what I wanted. Roughly the same age as the Lancer, slightly bigger engine, double the power (no joke), and looked personalised with the Speedy Holotype-R rims and Talon rear spoiler. It felt solid on the road, while I still didn't have the electric windows, the stock stereo was enough to impress me.

After 2 years however I started to realise a fair few things were going to start going wrong. The rubber was starting to wear down again, the brakes were getting soft, the shocks were making the most god-awful noise ever, the dash had some disturbingly loud rattles, the clutch felt slippery, and the gearbox was getting very crunchy. It was at this point after listing them out I decided I needed to rid myself of it, before it stole my wallet.

Car 4 (current): 1999 Subaru Forester GT
2.0L 4cyl turbo, manual wagon

http://www.edmunds.net.au/forester/Foz2.jpg

I've always loved the boxer rumble. I've always loved the little bonnet scoop on the Imprezas. When the GT first came out in Australia and I read a review that likened it to the 'Rex, I couldn't help but be interested in it. They were in my price bracket, had the features listed above, and even had electric windows! I had actually been looking around for a good 4 or 5 months before finding this example. This was actually the first car I found, inspected, test drove, and negotiated the sale of all on my own. Fortunately another friend of mine had actually detailed it for the caryard and had test driven it to the shop and back, and was able to give me a rundown on his observations. A good review here, and I took myself in, inspected it one weekend, test drove it another, and here we have it now.

Next car? I've always had an idea of what my next car would be. Now I don't know. I'm thinking perhaps a WRX hatchback. But I'm quite content with the capabilities of the Foz for now. For once I actually own a car I bought that isn't base spec. For this reason I can look at other Foresters on the road and not feel envious like I did in the Lancer and Vectra - instead I feel proud that others have the same taste I do (but mostly 'cause I have the top spec model, hehehe)

1st - 2001 Holden Barina (Brand new) black, was an awesome car, had it at school, put some big 15 inch wheels on it :P and a 2 inch exhaust, was a really good car tbh.

2nd - 2004 Smart Roadster (New) Dark blue w/Black, Barina got old and i always wanted a sports car, not much demand for cheap sportscars it was between this and an MG, and it being 1 of only 400 brought to Australia got my eye. Always looked great, people stared, was abit sluggish with a terrible auto (tiptronic) gear box, but handled like a dream, and as a mid engine rear wheel drive gave me some good fun :D

3rd - 2008 (current) HSV VXR (new) Arden Blue, clocked 1400km's on it so far, drives like a dream, smooth, quick (cant wait until i can push it, only afew hundred more Km's and i think its worn in :) yay)... Interior is great, loving the seats, and the look, big 19 inch rims... loving it.

Least favorite - Mazda Astina. Thin paint, weak and expensive cooling system, leaked like a sieve

Most interesting - Ford Fiesta. It passed an MOT a month before it broke in half!!

Most maligned - JD Camira. Had it for 9 years/190 000Km and she still was going strong when I sold her

Equal most favorite - JSII Vectra/ZC Vectra

Only had two cars.

First 1991 1.5L Carby Lancer GL. More of a boat than the Vectra.

Second is the Veccy. Spent way to much money on it, so it's up for sale. :D
