View Full Version : New Astra Hard Top's Testing...

Was down Tooradin way today and came accross a convoy of 2 Astra hard tops, 1 red SRi Turbo and 3 Capitvas, all heading back to Holden's Proving Ground at Lang Lang. They pulled into a car park out the back of Tooradin shops, so followed them and their faces were like wtf? as we pulled up in a Black Coupe SRi Turbo. lol. Must've been doing some validation testing. The hard tops look fantastic! Got one photo, but Holden engineers gave me dirty looks so it felt a bit awkward to take any more photos lol.

Nah, i felt dodgy taking any more photos as they were all standing around the cars or in the cars. lol

Their a really nice looking car, I saw one at the Sydney Motorshow and saw a demo off the roof. Im sure these will sell much better then the older Astra CC's. I took some photos of it when it was at the motorshow, these can be seen here:

Awesome stuff - well done Mat, they look better than the hatch for sure IMHO :)

My missus and I were talking about the new AH twin top just last night and you captured these 2 beauties :)

She is still very keen on one these, still going to persuade her to wait for the turbo models - they might even do a 1.9 TDi version :rolleyes:

There is a Silver Twin Top on the Westgate Freeway every morning for the
past 2 weeks.

I think is a Holden Employee as it has the now famous UAM-*** plates.
(VE test cars)

He also turns off at Fishermens Bend

I have yet to see him take the roof down...

My personal opinion is that it needs bigger wheels.. The standard ones
look a little small.

Yep, correct you are Pauly :)

I have 3 sets of 20's all made to fit the Astra, so it'll have 20's fitted only hours after it's purchased ;)

Yeh all Holden's 'test' cars have the UAM plates. The Twin Tops, Captivas and SRi Turbo I saw all had the UAM plates.
