this most likely due to costs involved, like Astra H Sedan, will not make it to Australia...but would be nice...

PS.
The silver model belongs to a member from astra.co.uk.

Looks the same to me as the wagon just without windows.... and the boot is fitted out like a van.

it is most likely based on the Astra H wagon... i would love to have one here... if thought out correctly and with a help of an engineer you could make it into Astra H ute

i do not have good photoshop skills but is anyone here able to "modify" the pic into a ute?

i was thinking the same...but Combo is still sold in europe alongside the new Corsa and Corsa Van, maybe they will keep it for couple of years?

my thinking is wat is the point in continuing to build another chasis if the combo is the only car using it, i guess it is yet to be seen if the Corsa D will get a Combo varient.

hmmm...smart thinking. could be they source a replacement (for Australian market) from Daewoo.

That van is nice and I can see the potential for it to be an awesome ute. Damn you Holden.

isn't production of the Combo moving in 2007 so that it can continue to be built?

yes, the Combo will still be made in 2007 along with the Astra Classic (TS, G, Series II) in all 3 variants (hatch, sedan and station wagon - no 3 and 2 door variants however - the convertible has most likely ended the production also)

looks like the good old Astra Classic (G) and Corsa Combo (C) are very well designed and can still be sold alongside the new D and H :)

It simply wouldn't sell enough along side the Commodore Ute. Tradey's would pick the Commodore Ute everytime over an Astra Ute. And why damn Holden? lol They don't make the Astras, they can only take what Opel offers...

Here's a quicky anyway...

That looks great (i have no idea how to use photoshop - will i ever learn??!) how long did it take you to do this?

yes, you are right (again) Just looking at the poor sales of the Proton Jumback it makes clear that any potential buyer will choose a falcon or Commodore ute over the Astra ute, however this is mainly beacuse of the stereotype that has been shaped over the years when it comes to owning a ute :)

if the price of petrol was growing steadily like it did few months ago i am sure these little beauties (Astra by MatsHolden) would sell like hot cakes :)
also if the metropolitan growth keeps up like this i am sure the likes of Combo, AstraVan (and lets hope Astra Ute!) will take place of much larger (read: harder to park in the crowded cities) utes and delivery vans...

That one only took about 10mins. lol

Yeh you're right, since the Commodore Ute has cemented it's position over the past 15 years or so, but yeh if fuel prices hit say $2 a litre, a smaller Holden ute like an Astra would probably get a look in.

I like it. yes it probly woundnt sell. but lets take a look at the Jumbuck it has a 1.5L, Mat will agree with me here the moment u hav 2 or more passengers u have no power. now think about how much a mixer and a couple bags of cement go. dam thats a slow bitch. I recon if the Astra ute was ever to be contemplated by GM it would require the 1.9CDTI or the 2.2L so it had a bit more go. Yes i would love a ute, i think they are very practical but there isnt a single one in the current market that i find remotly intreasting mainly given i no longer want or need a 4x4. umm opinion ramble over

well, if you believe a 1.5L Proton ute won't do...take a look at the Polish ingenuity, remember the Niki car back from 1991 ??
