Vectra is out . Daewoo Sourced product will replace the Vectra .

As for a Diesel Astra Wagon or coupe it could happen if the current 5 Door Proves Popular .

The Big Question is : Diesel Commodore?

it's known fact that Holden is currently investigating a diesel commodore and currently have test cars with diesels in them

Would make a lot of sense, especially since in the latest Wheels, the BF Falcon beat the VE in terms of Fuel economy (Omega 12.0L/100km - XT 10.9L/km) and is a faster car as well.

I saw a Holden branded baby pram today. I don't think that'll be diesel powered.

DirtyHarry

its more likely that pram is methane powered.

bwaahahahhahahahaha - Gold. :) :) I was thinking Natural Gas..

I don't think we're gonaa see a Diesel Commodore any time soon unfortunately. Holden should have been developing this years ago - before the VE release.

Are there any current large 6 cyl TD's in the GM world?

GM have done a deal with Italian engine manufacturer VM Motori. The engine is a 3.0L V6 TDi. Holden have also been experimenting with BMW diesel engines that were sold to Opel. Also Saab uses a 3.0L V6 Diesel.

Well the Vectra's cpme in a 1.9 CDTi in UK. but i am gessing that may be lacking the power for a comodore

120-130kW and way more torque than the V6's. should do just fine in a Commodore. the 150bhp diesel vecs are pretty quick

Opel have a 3.0L V6 CDTi in the Veccy's - 190bhp (140KW), 430NM I think from memory...been a while since I looked.

I'd love to buy a deisel astra but they only come in the poverty pack...Holden pull your bloody finger out...!!!

1.9 in a Commodore is going to struggle. Even if it is Diesel.

its hardly poverty pack. Its a mix of CD and CDX. All CDX features except it has CD's Air con and the CD's stereo. Everything else is shared with the CDX.

Would be nice if u could opt the leather seats in to it though.

Diesel for Astra wagon
Peugeot's bullish intention to steal fleet sales from the traditional Commodore and Falcon wagons with its new six-speed automatic version of the 307 diesel wagon has created a few ripples. Holden is already looking at a diesel Astra wagon to undercut its 307 rival when it has a comparable diesel and six-speed auto already on sale in the Astra hatch.

The Astra wagon which is remarkably roomy and stylish for a small wagon has struggled to reach its full potential with the old Astra's 1.8 petrol engine and basic auto. Because Holden has already done the hard yards on the wagon suspension, a diesel Astra wagon would also challenge Peugeot ride and handling supremacy. If Holden can offer the auto with the Astra manual's more powerful 110kW diesel, it will steal a march in performance as a bonus. As a frugal alternative for rental, courier, rural and city fleet use as well as a growing 'grey power' market, an Astra diesel wagon could be a vehicle for the moment.

Hi Guys,

The 3.0V6 CDTI is used by Opel/Vauxhall/Saab and believe it or not Renault.

The euro 3 was 177bhp, where as the newer Euro 4 version is now producing 184bhp, add a tuning box and ur talking 220bhp and 360lbft of torque ;)

This is where fuel economy or speed become the "what do you want?" question. But then even the option of one would be nice.

My van is a 1.9 TD 74kw. 0-100 is 16 secs and returns a 7.9lt/100km combined fuel consumption, but the van weighs just under 3 tonnes. Except for the trafficlight races, its more than capable, even with 800kgs in the back.

OT but dont GM own iveco?
