From what I've heard from Holden Dealers and from a E-mail from Opel Gmbh and Opel CZ, Australia should be expecting Delivery of the New Models around Easter, Holden have Enough Astra and Barina in Australian Stores and Docks to last till then Easily. At Port Melb, theres still close too 300 Astra SRi and SRi Turbo and around the same Barina SRi and SXi.

KID_SRI, I know you couldn't be sure, but do you think I would still be able to get a SRI Turbo in late April/early May? I'm overseas at the moment but returning to Aus then and am pretty keen to get one. Do you think I should order one some time before heading back?

Thanks for your help!

In the new Models there won't be a Turbo SRi straight away, So you should be able to get one for a while yet. Holden will keep selling and bringing in More till they run out then after that they'll sell them cheaper when a New Turbo is available. Just read the emails again, And I think its Next Year(2005) not this Year.

Do you have any idea how far in advance you can order one? Could I order one now for a late April delivery date to gaurantee I got one?

Thanks again!

Its hard to get De-Comp Pistons and Plates, But the rest of the Stuff is fairly easy. One of my mate has a Corsa B with a Turbo Z22SE and he had no Problems getting Stuff from Regal(UK). The only Problem he has now, A Blown Turbo and it looks like the Whole Engine has to come out.

Oh oh that doesn't sound like fun at all....

What turbo would you be looking at? You going to place a KKK like all the other holden turbo's or try another brand like a garret??

Anonymous

I'd run a Garrett or Turbonetics T Series.
I've never had a Problem with Garretts, Only Problem is Bearings if ya Boost them too much.

Sorry Paul, but he sold the Car, Sold the Engine to guy thats build'n a Astra Rally Car and Sold the Car to some Asian in Avondale Hieghts.
To put a Z22SE in a Corsa B is a C*NT of a Task, My mate had to have the Whole K Frame Cut out and Weld in a Cut down Astra K Frame.
It took him ages co he originally was going to a Calibra Engine.
So all up it aint worth it and No one will engineer it.

We have been advised by OPEL that there are over 1000 1.8-litre Astra's in transit or, recently delivered to Holden, which have defective valve springs installed in their engines.

OPEL's advice is that the valves in each of these vehicles could fail prematurely on engine startup or after very limited driving and as such they are recommending we rework these cars at port of entry (POE).

The actual rework involves the replacement of the valve springs without removing the cylinder head. This process is complex as the valves are recessed making access to the spring collets extremely difficult without a special tool to compress the spring, and to accurately locate the collet during assembly. The process takes between 3 to 3.5 hours per car for a trained technician to complete.

At this stage we have been allocated a limited supply of parts and special tools to complete this rework. This situation forces us to conduct the reworks at POE with all affected vehicles, at this stage, being quarantined at POE.

We have requested, and are aggressively pursuing, additional sets of tools to accelerate this rework and allow us the potential to include the Dealer network in the rework process.

We will be able to update you on our progress next week.

Dealers with affected vehicles have been contacted by Distribution

I haven't looked here in ages! I don't work for Holden anymore, but I have a couple of good friends who still do and they would be more than happy to help with good deals etc. If anyone wants a quote or whatever, email me on [email protected] and I am more than happy to pass along your query to one of my friends who will definately be able to help.

Ps. Does ashley still read this board? If so, Ash, why are you selling your turbo?!? Do you want to sell it to me cheap? :D I miss that car like mad!! Don't do it, they are great cars!

The delettion of the sunroof option in the Vectra CDXi is only because Holden doesn't have the mechanics to repair sunroofs, that is why they fit after market sunroofs. :(
It all comes down to the servicing and repairs of the car.

Huh???

You can get a factory fitted sunroof for a commodore.

Deletion of sunroof option in the Vectra means they have less variants to order/stock.

My old mans XR6 Turbo had the sunroof die, and it had to be taken back to Ford, who got another company (the company who makes and fits the sunroof) to repair the problem.

When I bought my ZC Vectra earlier this year, the sunroof was still an option but it was going to be done by a thirdparty sunroof specialist. I thought they dropped the sunroof from the range to keep the max price down. They also took the refrig-glovebox out too. hehehe but i got that, that was essential, for carrying the brews for bbq to bbq....
